Joakim Noah Guarantees a Chicago Bulls Win in Game 7

by Marcel Mutoni @ marcel_mutoni

Following a heartbreaking 95-92 Game 6 loss, Joakim Noah told the press that his underhanded Chicago Bulls weren’t fazed by a Game 7 back in hostile Brooklyn.

According to the emotional Bulls big man, there is no doubt in his mind that Chicago will win on Saturday night, and advance to the second round.

Per the Chicago Tribune :

The Nets forced that scenario with a 95-92 victory Thursday night at the United Center, secured only when Andray Blatche sank two free throws with 19.2 seconds left and Marco Belinelli missed a contested 3-pointer with 7.9 seconds remaining. Joakim Noah chased down the long rebound but stepped on the sideline for the Bulls’ 16th turnover. Noah atoned for this by tying up Deron Williams for a jump ball with 3.6 seconds remaining, which Noah won. But Joe Johnson sneaked in to secure possession and dribble out the clock.

“I’m ready to play. I want to go play right now. That’s my emotions,” a fired-up Noah said afterward. “We’re a team of fighters. We keep getting punched in the face but we fight back. I’m proud of this team. We’re going to go into a hostile environment in Brooklyn and we’re going to win.”

With seemingly every member of the Chicago Bulls sick and/or injured last night, the Brooklyn Nets barely hung on to force the deciding battle. They can be sure that this desperate and resilient Bulls team won’t go down easily.

Just ask Joakim Noah — who played a tremendous Game 6, as he tallied 14 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in 43 minutes:

“It’s going to take all of us sticking together through all kinds of adversity,” Noah said. “This has been a real hard year. But I’m really proud of this team. We’re ready to kick some ass.”

Lets go!! I want to go to this game so bad. Does anyone in BK have decent tickets to sell??

  • JessicaJ

Noah, you don’t really have to tell. If the Nets continued to play like what I watched just now, and your team can cut down on those unforced T/O (and you keep your head in the game as well), there’s no way you are gonna lose.

The game was just pathetic since the 2nd quarter. I thought I was watching Spurs Vs. Pistons all over again.

  • JetSkiJohnson

Joakim Noah guaranteeing a win like he can score at will. I see a blowout now.

nice to see him pumped up like this.

Hate when players do this and when they lose they don’t even want to bring it up. Like why say it

  • Diesel

Whoever writes the headlines for the articles on Slam should be punched in the ear. Constantly misleading. He didn’t guarantee anything. He just said they’re going to win…the same answer any player should give if asked what they’re going to do next game.

  • Jer dawg

I like Noah. He’s annoying, but he’s got heart. More than I can say for the Lakers! Gutless and heartless…f da coach, too! Worst season ever. Lakers should trade with Bulls because they need a heart. Sign and trade Dwight for Noah, Deng, and Butler. Throw in Nate, too.

  • JetSkiJohnson

how is”we’re going to win” not a guarantee?

  • Caboose

    Because Chicago would do that.

  • FLIGHT 9

WITH A very DEPLETED line-up and being the lower seed team The BULLs obviously over achieve. While the nets are too dumb to play catch up. WIN OR LOSE FOR THE BULLS IS ENOUGH. THEY AINT GONNA BEAT MIAMI ANYWAY…. it hurts coming from a BULLS fan. THANK YOU JOAKIM!!!!!!!

  • Diesel

Because its not ‘I guarantee we’re going to win’

  • AQWORD

Are you there Sheed ? It’s me Noah …

  • bike

It’s very hard to take any player who wears his hair like Noah does seriously. I wish he would lose that pinup pony tail.

  • Cortez Mack

    It is a guarantee, period.

Good for him. He should expect to win.

Sometimes things don’t have to be word for word. But I will agree that most of slam’s headlines are misleading.

  • Coyne

Big difference between this and a guarantee. This is belief, guarantee is arrogant. Either way, i like it from Jo.

  • ATL dynamite

Rasheed v.2? Both teams played hard?

  • Drig

The Lakers don’t have heart. Yeah. Which is why they persisted with the season even when they were 5 or 6 games behind no.8 seed with Pau, Blake, Hill and Nash sidelined and Kobe had a recovering Dwight at that point.

The Lakers were many things this season. But not having a heart, atleast till game 4 of the series, is not one of them. That’s too much of an insult to the efforts Pau, Kobe and Dwight put in to get the team into 7th seed.

And that trade would destroy Chicago.

  • Drig

If Wallace can shoot decently, I don’t think Chicago will win.

If Wallace can’t shoot to save his life, I don’t think this will end pretty for the Nets.

  • Redd

    That was pride..not heart lol.

    Kobe showed heart..that’s all.

Every Laker played injured for half the season. If the Lakers players started playing well only after realizing their dismal record when they were entirely healthy from the get go, I’d call it pride.

  • Matt

And I wish the Shock Exchange would stop referring to himself in the third person like a cornball, but we can’t have everything that we want.

can i slap the guy who makes headlines for Slam ?

  • Redd

They were healthy in the beginning..u meant Dwight? He returned on his own accord..the season was still young and he came back. Only injury that had heart was Metta. You wanna know injury? Look at the Bulls..no Lakers.

  • Drig

Wait….what??? Game 2, Nash injured. Pre-season, Blake injured. Dwight was returning from injury. Pau had foot issues in game 10 or so. Around the same time, Hill had a season-ending injury………..

Come again? When were they healthy at the beginning?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

He said they are going to win, that is a guarantee. You are right though, Slam has the worst headlines.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

    his hair is his mojo

  • Redd

    “season was still young”.

At one point they were healthy and still sucked.

    Bulls have heart..not Lakers.

  • airs

    guaran-f*cking-TEE

  • Josias Johnson

Well done Joakim. What a performance.

  • melvo

Typical Laker fan. You guys are all notorious for proposing the most ridiculous trades imaginable. “The Lakers should trade Pau Gasol to the Nets for Brook Lopez and Deron Williams…and you can throw in Gerald Wallcace I guess.”

*Update: You guys are also known for making every excuse possible when your team underachieves. They sucked this year. That’s it.

  • danpowers

i think the lakers and bulls were pretty even when it comes to injury problems.

  • Drig

At what point exactly are you talking??? 2 games? Pre-season?!?!

Bulls have heart. Lakers don’t. This is despite LAL facing more adversity this season and playing in a tougher conference. Because they won a PO series?

  • The Philosopher

    Prediction:
Phil Jackson will be the coach of the Los Angeles Clippers next season.
