Milwaukee Bucks Reportedly Targeting Stan Van Gundy

According to multiple reports, the Milwaukee Bucks are expected to interview Stan Van Gundy and Kelvin Sampson for their recently vacated head coaching position. It might be tough for the Bucks, however, to convince SVG to take the job. Per the Orlando Sentinel: “Van Gundy spent three seasons coaching at the University of Wisconsin, the first two as an assistant coach to Stu Jackson and the 1994-95 season as the Badgers’ head coach. After so many years living in Florida, returning to Milwaukee and its cold weather would present a dramatic change. On Dec. 4, 2010, prior to a Magic road game against the Bucks, I asked Van Gundy whether returning to Wisconsin brought back fond memories. ‘As soon as I walk outside, no,’ Van Gundy said, a smile on his face. ‘I want to get back to Florida. When I’m inside, yeah. Look, I enjoyed my years here, and there’s a lot of good people here and everything else … I laugh about it, but I don’t miss the weather. I don’t miss the weather at all.’ There are perhaps many elements about the Bucks that Van Gundy would respect. I’d guess Van Gundy admires how the Bucks have made some aggressive moves in recent years to get into the Eastern Conference playoff picture rather than bottom out. Milwaukee will own the Bird Rights of free agent-to-be J.J. Redick, who liked playing for Van Gundy and whom Van Gundy respects.”

    Bucks reportedly getting turned down.

Honestly, the Boylan was so bad. It was funny hearing him during timeouts in the Heat series. The Bucks were literally dribbling the ball up the court, shooting before there were any rebounders, and just running back on D. And he kept saying, “WE GOTTA PUSH THE TEMPO.” No Jim. No you didn’t.

Boylan was totally in over his head.

It was clear he really doesn’t know basketball. Or how to manage players. Or how to adjust in game. Or how to draw up plays.

i bet he knows basketball. i just don’t think he knows how to see ahead. basically, he can probably explain what just happened perfectly fine. But he can’t explain what needs or is going to happen. Or even identify the things needed in order to prevent what just happened from happening again.
he would be a terrible war strategist.

I thought Van Gundy just said 2 weeks ago he wasn’t interested in coaching. What brought on change of heart?
