Pablo Prigioni May Leave the Knicks and Return to Spain

New York Knicks point guard Pablo Prigioni’s future rests in his wife Raquel’s hands — Prigioni says that if the missus truly insists on returning to Spain, he’ll have to waive goodbye to the Knickerbockers and resume playing in the Spanish League. Per the NY Post: “I think it’s not the moment to talk about that now,’ Prigioni said after the Game 6 playoff ouster. ‘It’s painful to lose. It’s painful to start the vacation now. This is about the team. Now I stay quiet.’ Prigioni, 35, brought his wife, 4-year-old son, Nicolas, and 7-year-old daughter, Alessandra, over to New York for the season and he purposely signed just a one-year deal to see if he and his family liked the U.S. Prigioni said earlier in the playoffs it’s been a tough adjustment for his wife because she doesn’t speak English and had never left Spain before. GM Glen Grunwald tried to get Prigioni to sign for two years, but he opted for the one year at the league minimum of $473,000, thinking he could get a larger wage in his second season once he proved himself. The Knicks are in a tough spot because even if they make him a qualifying offer of $900,000, they ultimately would need to use part of their $3 million mini mid-level exception to re-sign him.”

Great person, smart players, always 110% effort. Mike under use him. He’s a master at pick and roll. Playing with Amare at the second unit can be a force.

his wife wears the pants in the Prigion family smh

Another huge blow to the Knicks. Nobody had a more positive impact on the team this postseason then Prig.

This shows you the state of the NBA. Players would rather play in Europe than play in the L.

  • jmm

    clearly you’re single.

  • jmm

Woefully underused too. Smart, positive player. Every team needs a dude who cares as much as this guy.

You are a marvel. It’s a Spanish player, who was under used and is 35 years old, going back HOME to Spain. It says nothing about the state of the NBA. It says something about the state of the Knicks. And the career of Pablo. Nothing about the NBA tho.

  • Sergio

    Actually, he is argentinian.

“You are a marvel.” Thank-you for the kind words.

i know that my bad, i didn’t mean his nationality. i meant where he lives. or where i was under the impression that he lives.

Not sure if “Waive goodbye to the Knickerbockers” is a spelling error or a clever pun…

I’m part German, Korean, Italian, and Irish. Doesn’t mean I call any of those places home.

    Really?

  • ChosenOne

He shoulda been All-Rookie 1st Team.. although I use the term “Rookie” very lightly, he’s been professional for way over a decade, so not really a rookie, but still…

Don’t blame him one bit. He probably can’t stand the sight of Amar’e anyway. Good luck dude.

I think he should go where his talent will be appreciated.Coach Woodson did not know what he had on Prigioni. He was a true point guard that was thinking playing as a team will be the key to winning. When he played the team was winning.Woodson send him to the bench and we are out of the playoffs.Good luck back in Spain Pablo. It’s the Knicks loss.

The Knicks should talk to his wife instead of him if the Knicks still wants him.
