There goes that. The Nets have elected not to retain PJ Carlesimo, and will begin the search for a new head coach immediately. Via the Daily News’ Stefan Bondy:

At some point, Deron Williams has to become a leader and Brook Lopez has to learn how to rebound like a center regardless of who the coach is. Joe Johnson is who he is.

  • spit hot fiyah

    wow that was quick

  • spit hot fiyah

joe johnson is definitely joe johnson

  • LP @ThisisEther

Mikhail Pro is cutthroat, you had to know this was gonna happen, and quickly…… He cut Avery Johnson quick too….i had no doubt after that loss to the Emergency Room Bulls he was gonna get axed immediately

  • star

i love how d-will got completely ignored

  • The Philosopher

    Carlesimo will get another job…
This season, he’s coached better than he ever has in his career in the National Basketball Association.
    In my judgement.

  • MUBWAR

joe got back to back max contracts. rick ross voice : BOSS. u gotta be who yourself to get that done

  • MUBWAR

2 coaches in 1 season, on a team that plays in the easy conference with 4 all stars playing in the starting lineup. At some point the players gotta be held responsible

  • Josias Johnson

Or you have to play for an organization that’s desperate to keep you and treat you like you’re a superstar when you’re obviously not.

  • JetSkiJohnson

how is Deron not a leader, he played well last night.

  • Josias Johnson

Not just about stats. That team plays too soft and too lazy. No inspiration. No drive. No motivation.

  • JetSkiJohnson

its not dwill fault that Lopez and Johnson are lazy and slow

  • raw

    BAWS!!

  • Josias Johnson

The entire team besides Evans and Wallace…they all played too relaxed. That includes Deron. It is his fault. He’s the PG. He should push himself and the rest of the team. He didn’t do that this season.

    as it should be

Thank God. I don’t know what I’d have done if he came back next year… Never disliked a coach until he took over the job

  • roscoe

    pj did an excellent job.

it makes sense to dump a guy who made a positive difference.

  • roscoe

    Yep…

“where did you go in the 4th Joe” was in full effect for the entire game.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

lopez’s was scoring, but noah was just being pused around at other angles.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

he was hurting for motivation for a while this season.

  • MUBWAR

loool im sure the first one was with phoenix.

  • Josias Johnson

He was a restricted free agent in Phoenix. Atlanta made a $70 million offer. Ended up in a sign and trade. And then came the 2010 max deal.

  • MUBWAR

damn thanks 4 the knowledge, i didnt know that. the hawks are suckers i guess

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    off with his head

  • Caboose

    Coach’s fault?

-Gerald Wallace has become one of the most inconsistent offensive AND defensive players in the L.
-Brook Lopez is strong inside offensively but as soft as Pau inside on defense and rebounding.
-Reggie Evans makes the Nets play 4 on 5 on offense.
-MarShon Brooks makes the Nets play 4 on 5 on defense.
-Joe Johnson is incapable of playing within an offense.
-Deron hasn’t figured out when to play passer and when to play scorer.

Not exactly a team that fits together.

  • The Philosopher

Maybe Jordan will give him a shot.

False as much as I cannot stand the Lakers Pau Gasol os not a chump on the boards you cant average 10rbs for a career and be considered soft. He is in fact not the most aggresive defender but he is solid though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bcbrookins Brittany Brookins

Honestly he should. But he is a cheap guy lol. At this point he really nedds a proven coach to take a risk on him. The cats are too undisciplined but have a lot of energy on their side. They have two guys( Kemba and Mike) who are winners and will or at least should be great Locker Room and Floor leaders in time. They also a good DEVELOPMENTAL staff.

  • ATL dynamite

not joe johnson tho, he did his thing this season

  • JetSkiJohnson

exactly Deron wants to shoot but be a point guard. And then he gets the most criticism lol. and Lopez is a scorer but is soft on offense too. Noah bullied him out the post in that series.

  • JetSkiJohnson

i think you need inside information to come to those conclusions.

  • LP @ThisisEther

he’s not the leader of the team….Joe Johnson is obviously the leader of this team, BECAUSE the whole team has taken on his demeanor….

  • Josias Johnson

Not really. Watch the games. It showed. When did he get into his guys faces?

  • JetSkiJohnson

what player you know gets in guys face besides garnet on the court? Dwill has never been that get in your face type of leader. Hes the type to lead by example and he couldn’t do that this season

  • Josias Johnson

Chris Paul, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Kevin Durant. They all at least confront guys when they’re not playing the way they should play. Deron is part of the reason why Avery Johnson got fired. Dude had issues with Jerry Sloan who got along with John Stockton and Karl Malone just fine. At some point, it’s not about his coaches…it’s about him.

  • JetSkiJohnson

Deron had issues with Utah because they kept letting players go… Mathews, Boozer.. etc… and all those players lead by example except for LeBron and Rondo imo

  • Josias Johnson

They do both. What example did Deron set if Avery Johnson, a good coach, got let go? What example did he set if Jerry Sloan decided he didn’t want to coach him anymore? Now he says the new Nets coach has to have toughness. No, he needs to toughen up himself.

  • shockexchange

MUBWAR, You just broke down the NBA – It’s a players league. If try to hold a superstar accountable he may get emotional and bolt for another team.

  • Caboose

Sorry, I was typing fast and Pau was just the first name that came to mind. He’s a good rebounder in that he knows all the fundamentals, and gives tough box outs. However, he is NOT some strong-man on defense. I should have said Brook is as soft as Pau on defense and as soft as Bargnani on rebounding.

  • Caboose

    Wanna explain why?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Carlesimo is the same dummy who tried to play KD at shooting guard for his whole rookie season. The evidence this season doesn’t really matter, PJ is an awful coach.

  • Gaurav Pokharel

I’m disappointed in Deron’s career. When he first came into the league, I really thought he had the work ethic and ability to hands down be the best PG in the league….he has not reached his potential IMO, and he’ll only be known, in his prime, as a above average All-Star PG and nothing more sadly.

  • http://www.facebook.com/bcbrookins Brittany Brookins

Its cool i gave that rep too before he won his first ring and put on a shoe in the olympics

  • The Philosopher

    Respect.

    Thanks Philo
