Doc Rivers and Rajon Rondo Reportedly Almost Fought

With Doc Rivers on his way out of Boston, there’s a report alleging that Rajon Rondo and his former coach nearly came to blows during a team meeting. Per Sheridan Hoops: “It isn’t just that he doesn’t want to be a part of a rebuilding situation; it is because he has an intense dislike for point guard Rajon Rondo. A source close to the Celtics says that Rondo dropped an F-bomb on Rivers in the locker room during a team meeting, and Rivers went after Rondo and tried to fight him before the fracas was broken up.”

Whenever Rondo speaks, he’ll have to explain how he drove Ray Allen, Doc Rivers and maybe Paul Pierce and KG out of Boston.

    Rondo’s stock continues to plummet

He also wear shirts that contains mockery to lebron, rose, and dlee.

how about a rondo and tyrus thomas vs. silas and doc tag team fight?

  • Dfrance

I tend not to believe “sources close to.” He’s always makin sh1t up.

i believe this. Just pay attention to rondo’s demeanor. This fits right in line with it.

Rondo didn’t get along with ray allen. He tried to fight chris paul because chris paul got all the recognition as the best pg in the game that he wanted. Rondo has almost fought garnett in practice (well, this is normal i guess LOL). Doc rivers has had a history of not getting along with rondo because of his fiery nature and his disrespect towards the coach. Doc is a great coach but he is a long time player so for rondo to not get along with him makes sense as he doesn’t get along with vets in general.

Rondo has randomly bumped refs for no reason, has started up altercations 10 seconds into games (rajon rondo v. rafer alston, etc) and some of the best boston journalists (namely bob ryan) have disparaged him to the point where they believe rondo being the face of the celtics is a death blow to the franchise. Some of these journalists are pure insiders and they all say the same things about rondo (most being negative).

Rondo will learn this soon enough. When he is truly the “man” without an awesome coach or great vet teammates, he will need to learn how to lead or he will bite the bullet EXCLUSIVELY. Boston media is READY to crucify this young man… crazy thing is they would actually be justified. It is pretty rare for a player being crucified by the media as a justifiable act but in this case, it would be. Rondo forced out ray allen, probably was one of the reasons doc worked with the team to leave and has already shown people why he isn’t a great leader himself. get ready rondo… you want top player recognition? time for some top player criticism.

    **Starts slow clap**

Co-Sign everyone with the hate for Rondo’s tude… But… We also do all recognize that given talent around him this a championship level point.
He needs to check his attitude, but lets see what he’s made of here first.

is he related to “sources with knowledge of the situation”?

  • Dfrance

    Yes! You know him?

  • TBRK

naw, him and Chris Broussard are real close, like brothers…..I think I trust him

  • ErnieD

Rondo is a big reason why they have Banner #17.

When did this happen? Recently? This past season? Couple of years ago?

Not that I don’t believe it–Rondo acts like a snotty brat at times–but these kinds of stories cropping up after it’s all said and done are always suspect.

  • ZOGS

    ^^BAD JOKE

  • Evan Boland

    KG loves Rondo.

  • Basketball_iQ

All this Rondo is a snotty brat from “fans” is fkery…. Just bc you almost fought someone and you are fiery as a player doesn’t mean anything… His strength is his weakness.
If he comes out with a jumpshot and the same intensity before the injury, he’ll carry this team and all will be forgotten. Imo

  • Clos1881

Yeah that’s true. I don’t believe this about rondo and doc I never trust unnamed sources and ray left Boston because his role was decreasing due he can no longer defend and Avery Bradley is on of the best defenders in the league.

  • Clos1881

And you got all this info from……?

  • Clos1881

    Lol

  • Tad

what?! no he’s not. He was a complete liability back in 2008. Eddie House played a bigger role on that team than he did.

  • Feez_22

    a) The ray allen info has been well chronicled. you can look it up for yourself if need be. Ray allen himself all but confirmed his rift with rondo… it was the main storyline when he went to Miami (well 2nd to the traitor story line)

    b) Rondo’s almost fight(s) with garnett in practice were witnessed by reporters. I don’t really hold this against him much though since garnett has fought other teammates before.

    c) Doc rivers has had multiple interviews where he has cited clashes with rondo. You can look them up if you want (video or article)… there are dozens. The report on doc trying to fight rondo was just icing on the cake for that.

    d) Rondo bumping the ref, almost fighting rafer alston 10 secs into a game and the chris paul situation have all been captured ON TAPE lol. All of them. The rondo v cp3 thing was confirmed by sources in the locker room. on the exchanging of words vid, the description says
“Chris Paul’s recent standoff with Rajon Rondo started when the Celtics point guard told him he won’t win a championship.

Rondo was heard to tell Paul, Ive got a ring, and youre never gonna win one.” it was out of jealousy basically that cp3 got all the coverage while he had a ring.

    e) Bob ryan has an interview on 790 the ticket where he says he is terrified at rondo being the face of the franchise because of his lack of leadership abilities. Just go to 790 the ticket and listen to it. it is his most recent archived interview (the interview is pretty good overall though. they talk about the heat, Celtics, playoffs, etc)

Now, if you want to chalk up all of this to speculation then fine. I see a pattern.

  • spit hot fiyah

no, nobody knows him, we just know about him.

  • Evan Boland

Exactly. I’m sure they butted heads at times, but when Rondo found out about his ACL him and Doc had a heartfelt embrace.
