LeBron James to Put the Headband Back on for Game 7

After Tim Duncan knocked off his headband in Game 6, LeBron James went on a fourth quarter rampage that helped extend the Miami Heat’s season. Tonight in Game 7, the headband will return. Per the NY Times: “James’s ability to play well without his headband — he scored 12 of his game-high 32 points without it — became a talking point during and after the game as bloggers and fans on social media began wondering: doesn’t James have to start Game 7 without the headband? James scored just as many points in the paint (8) without the headband as he did with it in the first 34 minutes of Game 6, according to ESPN Stats and Info. He also shot 45 percent (5 of 11) after he lost his headband. James smiled and laughed when asked if he would play Game 7 without his headband. ‘I’ll probably start off with it, man,’ he said. ‘A little superstitious.’ He added, ‘If it gets knocked off, then me and him will have a discussion if he will return.’ [...] James acknowledged that the last time he played without a headband was in a preseason game against the Detroit Pistons in his rookie season with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003. ‘I didn’t play too well,’ he said. ‘I didn’t like it.’”

Anyone notice the 5 inch scar LBJ has on the back of his head? Did he always have that? I’m pretty sure I would have noticed it before Game 6. Barber eff up a part or something?

  • jmm

Dude, it’s time to lose that thing and shave the dome.

  • OfftheWall87

As expected. Going to be a great game tonight.

  • OfftheWall87

Hasn’t always been there. Barber probably screwed up something.

See my edit, he had surgery

  • OfftheWall87

I remember seeing that growth during the Magic series and them saying it was benign. Didn’t know the surgery left a scar though. He grew his hair out the next season and the scar couldn’t be seen.

I liked his look without the headband. Makes him look like an old badass. I’d like to see him shave his head and get a headband tattoo with an inscription ‘LeBand’.

He looks badass without the thing, like a black jason statham…..

The surgery wasn’t that big a deal because the growth was benign but why would they go through that point on his head to get to the jaw? I’m thinking that scar is from something else.

I wonder how Pop will adjust

if the heat are down in the fourth quarter i have a prediction: james takes of his head band and the fans (those who are still at the game) lose their minds and all start screaming like the san antonio lady and the heat go on another epic run.

Nah I read an article about it, they said they had to go from the back of his head to around his ear. I’m not a surgeon so I have no clue why they do it that way, but I’m sure there’s a medical reason.

  • Dfrance

He’ll make sure no one knocks it off again thats for sure. lol

Are you implying he has a receding hairline like statham? its not that bad lol

  • RayJr

Oh I see. That seems odd to me but I’m not a doctor or surgeon either so whatever works huh.

I missed James’ headband coming off during the game and originally thought he threw it off in anger because he was frustrated the whole game. I kind of hope he just throws it off into the crowd in the 4th just for a reaction and the theatrics of being in that moment.

  • RayJr

    Not yet lol

  • danpowers

i am upset, offended and confused

He didn’t wear a headband during the lockout summer in all this pickup games and I though it looked sick. Just like Rondo he looks better without a headband
