Manu Ginobili Rooting For Pacers, Wants Homecourt Advantage

Manu Ginobili said he wants the Pacers to beat the Heat so the Spurs can have the homecourt edge in the Finals. Via the San Antonio Express-News: “‘It’s not that we pull (for Indiana),’ he said. ‘I think this time it’s different than before because the homecourt advantage. It is a big difference. It’s not definitive. It doesn’t mean that whoever has homecourt advantage is going to win. But we all prefer to have a Game 7 at home than on the road if we could get to that point. But besides that, different styles, I think we can match up with both.’ At the very least, Ginobili said he’s hoping the series goes the full duration – and then some. ‘Let them play,’ he said. ‘Five overtimes in Game 7. That would be great.’”

Can I be the first to say “duh?”

can they stop the 2-3-2 format for the finals? i don’t get the point of changing the format that was used for the previous 3 rounds.

MANU KNOWS IF THE SPURS PLAY MIAMI IN THE FINALS THE SPURS ARE DEAD IN THE WATER! LBJ IS GOING TO DESTROY THE SPURS! LOL WATCH AN SEE!

HEAT IN 6 IN THE FINALS!

  • MUBWAR

i agree it does not make any sense

the only reason the pacers can hang with the heat is because they`re the number 1 defensive team in the league. pacers got strength and length in every position. Good luck with that spurs

Yea except the Pacers can’t score for sh*t. Tim Duncan and TP bring it every night, and Ginobili has been playing pretty well these series… The Spurs are 10x the team the Pacers are

  • MUBWAR

i agree with that. i was saying good luck to the spurs regarding the heat. cole and chalmers can slow down TP. a limping dwade and ginobli are a wash. lbj bosh and supporting cast are far better then duncan and supporting cast. advantage heat

Just a guess here but I believe it changes due to the distance travelled from East to West coast..

Conference teams are usually closer to each other there by allowing a quick turn around for games without much jet lag…

Finals teams are more often further apart…

i hear that, but that is not always the case. the distance between miami and indiana and miami and san antonio is not that big for example.

also, if travel is the problem just give teams an extra day of between games after travel. too much at stake imo to mess with he format. or at least keep the format consistent throughout the playoffs whatever format that is. even though i prefer 2-2-1-1-1

Yeah the advantage goes to whoever doesn’t get home court. Let’s say if the Spurs and Heat play and Spurs steal one in Miami then go home for 3 in a row then it’ll be tough for Miami to steal one. 2-3-2 is terrible format if you have home court.

  • spit hot fiyah

extremely hard to win 3 in a row at home

one thing good about 2-3-2 format is that game 5 is played at the away stadium if its a 2-2 split. Game 5′s and game 7′s are the most important games in tightly contested series. Its nice to see the away team get homecourt in one of those games especially since it is the finals and not some other round in the playoffs.
