Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers Reportedly Interested in Clippers

Doc Rivers to the Clippers has been gaining momentum, and according to ESPN.com, there is speculation that Rivers, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett would all like to move to the L.A. Clippers together if the Celtics aren’t in a position to contend for a title next season.

crawfors and terry together would be hilarious to watch

Why don’t the teams just switch cities already and call it a day? Boston Clippers has a certain ring to it . . .

So the Clippers are going to pay for Garnett, Pierce, Doc Rivers AND sign CP3? No way in hell that happens. But if they were crazy enough to spend all of that cash, they would have to give up DeAndre, Bledsoe, draft picks and expiring contracts at least. I’m sorry Doc Rivers feels that Boston is stuck in mediocrity right now, but how is bringing two aging veterans in the twilight of their careers going to help the Clippers win a title? You have to expect the team to mesh with two new players, a new coach, a new system altogether, and you have a window of 2 years to do it before Pierce and Garnett retire. It would actually work out well for the C’s in the long run…. starting lineup would be Rondo, Bradley, Green, DeAndre and Bass/Sulinger…. and that is without signing any players (or Coach) with all the money left over that would otherwise go to keeping Pierce and KG.

if they’re smart and wanna win they’ll take less money (Boston 3), they’re over the hill and just wanna stay together and win a chip

Looks like Stephen A. Smith is a genius, he called this a month ago and people thought he was crazy.

YES this is awesome. I want to see Eric Bledsoe and Rajon Rondo team up as the best guard duo that can’t shoot. Also, this would obviously make the Clips contenders.

  • Mike Gilbert

Only in 2k…but it does make a fair amount of sense.

  • Mike Gilbert

yea, you do not want Crawford if you already have Terry. A core of Rondo, Avery Bradley, Eric Bledsoe, Jeff Green, and maybe Deandre Jordan? That’s a lot of fun.

    Your move Ainge.

  • RedRum

Great… in a league that is getting more and more athletic two veterans in the end of their career and nadir of physical skill are just about what is needed for a championship team…

This is getting better by the day.

if pierce and garnett were free agents hat would make sense. sign with the clips for the minimum. but considering their deals… are there really reasonable trade scenarios for the clips?
they’d get a group that could contend for one year, two max. then these guys retire. they wont go all the way anyway. i cant imagine that as i dont think that the injury bug will strike on OKC two playoffs in a row. even if they reach the finals, most likely there would be the heat waiting for them then.

But Boston Celtics has 17 rings to it

A Rondo/Bledsoe backcourt would be small but defensively would wreak havoc as Bledsoe can play both guard positions where Avery Bradley can’t.

if this happens, Heat – Clippers finals would be beyond EPIC!

I think PP has a $5 mil buyout. Celtics can buy him out. They save the difference on his contract and then he can sign with Clips as a FA. Celtics could then trade KG in a smaller deal.

Boston’s title window is closed, and holding onto these two guys, while sentimental, is bad business – and Ainge is nothing if not cutthroat. We’ve all heard Ainge’s old opinion on trading Bird/McHale/Parrish. They should jump at this deal, go young with Rondo, Green, Bradley, Sullinger, and whoever else (Crawford? meh), free up tons of cap space, and rebuild quickly. Rondo’s a premier PG, Green broke out in the playoffs, Sullinger will continue to develop, and Bradley, while having a bad playoffs, will also build on his game. Seriously – Boston fans should, in their moments of clarity, want this to go down. Am I right?!

who would you ship for garnett? he makes 11,5 next season. thats the clippers payroll http://hoopshype.com/salaries/la_clippers.htm jordan? or butler+crawford? would that really make the clips better considering garnett’s age? im not so sure

Well, a person doesn´t necessarily be a genius in order to call predictions about possible trades and transactions in a sports league.

If KG and Blake end up being teammates and KG can have any effect on Blake’s mentality, could be scary.
