Tony Parker Says He’d Rest His Hamstring 10 Days If It Was The Regular Season

Tony Parker’s right hamstring has been slowing him down as of late, and though he’ll surely give it a go Sunday night (and the one or two games that will follow), TP admitted to the media that if we were amidst the regular season, he’d probably take it easy for a couple of weeks. Per SI: “Tony Parker’s strained right hamstring is progressing well, but the All-Star Spurs guard said Saturday that playing through the pain bears a risk of re-injury that would see him sidelined if the stakes weren’t so high. ‘My hamstring can tear any time now,’ Parker said, one day before Game 5 of the Finals against the Heat tips off on Sunday night. ‘If it was the regular season, I would be resting like 10 days. But now it’s the NBA Finals. If it gets a tear, it’s life.’ So far, Parker is tear-free, and there haven’t been any setbacks during the two days off between Game 4 on Thursday and Game 5. Parker was able to shoot jumpers with his teammates during a portion of Saturday’s practice that was open to the media. ‘It feels good, it feels good,’ Parker said of his hamstring. ‘I feel like I’m getting stronger with it. My goal is to be close to 100 percent by [Sunday].’”

he was not himself in the 2nd half of game 4. it’s pretty amazing that green and neal have basically been carrying this team offensively for the last 2 games.

i think hes fine. green and neal will continue to contribute because miami is choosing to let those two beat them, rather them than parker/duncan/ginobili. speaking of duncan and ginobili. duncan needs to get more touches and shoot a lot more, ginobili needs to get his head out of his behind and start playin. dont care who wins i just really want a good series!

u think he is fine? then what is he saying that he would rest for 10 days if it was the regular season?

It could well be his last ever shot at the finals, if he can stand up, he’s going to try and play. I wonder, if it was a young and rising PG with their career ahead of them in his place, would they be as happy to risk a tear as Parker is?

It’s the Finals, there’s no guarantees. I always think of the 86 Rockets for that example. I think no matter who the player is, unless they’re risking significantly rest of their career, would try and play. I know I sure as hell would!

man the way he moved in the first half of that game. theres no way you could play that way let alone run if it was half as bad as he and the media make it to be. and its conflicting, he says he’s injured and needs 10 days but also says that by tipoff today hes looking to be 100 percent. we’ll know in a bit if the legs ok or not.

Lol, I advise you to go look at some post game intervieuws after every bad game he plays.
    Or you were being sarcastic.
