Good chance to finish his career with a ring

Let’s be real though: he’s pretty much in retirement right now.

All of my favorite players to watch growing up are either out of the league or hanging it up… smh… I’m getting old

  • bike

I suspect he’s been considering hanging it up for several years now.

Hopefully he’ll have a chance to actually contribute instead of riding the pine.

Tracy McGrady SHOULD retire after the NBA Finals.

  • Steve Francis

Everyone: Heat fans, haters, Spurs fans, haters, neutrals, those who hate everything…they all want to see Tracy Mcgrady do something in the finals. Not necessarily win, but play, contribute, show a little magic. That would make my day.

He SHOULD have retired a looooong time ago as far as i’m considered.

I totally forgot he was even on the Spurs bench lmao

I just picked up my copy of NBA 2K9 to play for fun and it made me sad to think of how far those older stars have fallen.

    Gilbert Arenas: 95
    Baron Davis: 94
    Allen Iverson: 94
    Vince Carter: 89
    Mike Bibby: 85
    Tracy McGrady: 91
    Peja Stojakovic: 82
    James Posey: 84
    Elton Brand: 92
    Rashard Lewis: 84
    Amare Stoudemire: 94
    Carlos Boozer: 90
    Jason Richardson: 84

    Kevin Durant: 83

The turnover of the NBA is incredible and demonstrates what I think, has been a shift in dominance vis a vis age. It is the young athletes who dominate the league now (Westbrook, George, Griffin, etc) as opposed to the craftier veterans of just 5 years ago. Yeah, there’s still the older stars (Duncan, Kobe, etc), but look at that list. Dudes who hit their prime around 30, not 25.

Gilbert was rated a 95? Damn, thats a reckless rating haha

  • playa

    concerned not considered, jeeez

  • melvo

Most of those guys weren’t that good in 2009. Haha, good ol’ 2k rating system.

You’re right in saying that the this is becoming a young, athletic man’s game though.

i would love to see T-Mac get some burn in this series and get a chance to check lebron. if he could just recapture some of his past greatness for a couple of plays- that would be enough – i just want him to get the chance to contribute to this team winning- if they do win. just like payton in the heat finals- sure he wasnt a star- but hitting that right wing 20 footer was key. would love for tmac to have his moment. he deserves it.

There’s no need to shake your head. :)

‘It is the young athletes who dominate the league now.’
It has always been like that, isn’t it?

  • grgeblck

i think he is mature enough to know he won’t play much minutes, he is just here to help.

  • grgeblck

    lol. nice one playa.

  • Ron G Donnelly

He’s already retired while he’s on the spurs..lol ( no playing time)

  • pepper my angus

    just like juwan howard

  • Basketball Coach

too bad his injuries ate up a lot of his talents, but this would make a lot of people happy.
