Trade for Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce Reportedly Discussed By Nets and Celtics

We know that the Brooklyn Nets want Kevin Garnett. It turns out that BK is also interested in Paul Pierce. The Boston Celtics and Nets have reportedly discussed a blockbuster trade. Per Yahoo! Sports: “The talks are centering around a package that would include Gerald Wallace, Tomike Shengelia, the expiring deal of Kris Humphries and three future first-round picks, sources said. Garnett has yet to be approached about waiving his no-trade clause, sources said, but there’s a belief that he could be persuaded to agree to a deal should the Celtics and Nets be able to reach an agreement on terms. No deal is imminent. For the Celtics, the chance to clear cap space and gain multiple future draft picks to start the franchise’s rebuilding process would be the lure.”

why would the celtics to this? they owe jeff green about 37 million over the next three, and they want to add g wallace 3 year 30 million deal on top of that? this sound more like wishful thinking from the nets’ side

So 2 aging players that probably have about 1-2 years left in them for 3 late 1st rounders and Wallace’s terrible contract? Deal seems meh…

This would make the Nets slightly better but not good enough to beat Miami, Indiana or a healthy Chicago. This would also keep Boston just good enough to avoid getting a lottery pick in the next year’s draft. And, it would keep the payrolls high for both teams. I hate everything about this. I’m really choked that KG didn’t get amnestied and PP didn’t get bought out of his final year, which would have allowed them both to sign for the minimum and contend for Doc Rivers in LA. Now apparently the Clips and Celts can’t do any deals for one year to avoid it being construed as an illegal side deal involving the transfer of Rivers? Both teams totally f***ked up a great opportunity.

Yes Celtics. Tank a season to get Wiggins. It will be worth the pain.

Why in the world would the Celtics even consider what you suggest? Clippers would still get bounced in the st round anyway.

I like this. Nets are saying “We’ve got an owner with lots of money so f*** the draft. We’re getting trades and free agents.” Not a super team but really really interesting and I like the ballsy moves.

To save money and cap space while rebuilding.
