Andrew Bynum Says the Cleveland Cavaliers are ‘Definitely a Playoff Team’

Incoming center Andrew Bynum and his people have swooped into Cleveland with plenty of bravado. According to the big fella, during his introductory press conference this morning, the Cavaliers should have no problem making the Playoffs next season. Per the Plain Dealer: “Newest Cavalier Andrew Bynum said his goal is to play a full season this year and help the Cavs reach the playoffs. ‘This is definitely a playoff team,’ In spite of the fact that Bynum missed all of last season with knee issues after being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers, he said he plans to play a full season and will get to work on Monday. He said he weighs 305 pounds and wants to get down into the 280s. Calling questions about his work ethic nonsense, he said getting his career back on track is his only goal. Bynum, 25, signed an incentive-laden two-year contract that could pay him up to $24 million. Only $6 million is guaranteed in the first season, and the Cavs have a team option on the second year in order to maintain their salary-cap flexibility moving toward a possible run at LeBron James if, as expected, he opts out of his contract with Miami.”

In the East? absolutely. 6th seed is their ceiling imo. Of course that depending on if Bynum actually plays. If not, then thats another story.

  • mike

on paper… sounds right. kyrie, jarret jack , earl clark, bynum….. not to mention waiters , vareajao and the #1 draft pick . Seems to be a good mix of talent and personalities.

  • Caboose

Injuries are another biggie…. and not just to Bynum.

    barring injuries, obviously.

  • Caboose

No kidding. Kyrie, Jack, Waiters, Bennett, Thompson, Bynum, Clark, Varejao is just way too much talent to not grab 8th or higher in the East.

i would be really shocked if Kyrie played 65+ games, Andrew Bynum played over half a season, and they didn’t make the playoffs.

so i just read a report that Bynum is somewhere are 305lb’s right now…….

  • Caboose

    Shout out to Eddy Curry.

  • neaorin

Just as important as the extra talent is that they should actually play some respectable defense this year. Sixth seed looks about right.

  • robb

I wonder which hairstyle will he be rockin’ while resting his @ss on the bench during the Cavs playoff run

Yep, Kyrie, Bynum, Varejao, Waiters and even Bennet are considered injury risks.

I’m thinking a shag/flat top combo like Phil Wade. Look up Phil Wade on youtube and thank me later.

  • Fat Lever

F this guy. Unless we land Wiggins. In that case, thanks Drew for being the biggest bust in Sixer history and getting us that #1 pick!

  • robb

lol he’s gonna need a pair of glasses to go with that

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

lol did you look him up? The guy has the best impressions

  • King David

Andrew Bynum is Eddy Curry Jr

  • robb

yeah Ray Charles was funny as hell

The Sixers are the ones who chose not to renew him, not vice-versa. Hinkie said in May that he was going to treat Andrew Bynum like “any other free agent”, then went out and traded for Nerlens Noel. Your anger is misplaced.

I woke up the house watching that damn video haha

  • Far Lever

Not really. He jerked around the team and the franchise with his antics. Hinkie made a sound business decision based on the facts. Pretty much as soon as the season was a wrap we see Bynum flamenco dancing in Spain. He said himself that if this season were the playoffs he’d play. My anger is not misplaced. It is squarely on AB, as it should be.

  • Roy Blumenfeld

He was still recovering from a serious injury over the course of the season. The Sixers didn’t make the playoffs, so he never got a chance to suit up.

To quote Doug Collins on the matter: “From his standpoint, there was nothing he could do. It was a situation he was put in. From our guys’ (standpoint), you’d have to ask them (if it was distracting). I never considered Andrew a distraction. I never felt that in any way. I tried to be very supportive of what he was going through. But again, you’d have to ask how it affected them.”

  • cflip

Deep down I am glad we had him, because of the trade we got rid off an overrated basket-case of a coach and forced us into finally rebuilding after nearly a decade of being mediocre.

  • Fat Lever

I dont care what Doug has to say. He was known to not to want to challenge AB. He didn’t want to put the franchise in a position where AB would be pissed off and not play, so he said the right things when it came to that situation.

I look at a player like Rose, killing himself to get back and then I look at Bynum, with more pictures of him out and about in Philly while recovering from his injury than of him actually rehabbing. I’m not saying he shouldn’t have a social life or anything like that, but perception is reality in this business. Fair or not.

  • Ugh

Did you ever wonder if Rose was out a whole year because he went bowling and then piggy-backed a Penthouse Pet around on his yacht, but that maybe he is sensible enough to have a publicity manager worth a damn who’ll make sure those stories never get out?
Probably not, as you believe perception = reality.

  • Jer dawg

Bynum still proving < than Oden

  • Dev

Got me a new 2K team lol

  • roscoe

if bynum is healthy… CLE can beat the heat in the playoffs.

  • roscoe

    i saw a video of him… he is flabby…

did you hear he would not let any teams work him out before they signed him?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Nope hadn’t heard that, although I’m sure he had to do at least a physical

  • nick

CLE never gives credit to Tristan Thompson, dude was unbelieveably consistent this season…

  • Chris Callihan

  • Tony Taylor

Flex on the Devil, Daddy Stroke on his head lmao that guy is funny as hell been watching him since 2011
