Boston Celtics to Sign Brazilian Center Vitor Faverani

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Boston Celtics and Brazilian center Vitor Faverani have agreed to terms on a three-year deal: “Faverani averaged 9.3 points on 59.4 percent shooting from the field, 4.6 rebounds and shot 79.3 percent from the free-throw line in 17 minutes a game for Spain Valencia Basket last season. The 6-foot-11, 260-pounder is expected to play for the Brazilian national team this summer.”

They already have Fab Melo and Kelly Olynyk. At power forward they have Jared Sullinger, Brandon Bass, Jeff Green, Kris Humphries, and Shavlik Randolph. How will they find play time for all of them?

Fab and Randolph are going to stay on the pine, Olynyk is more of a four, and Jeff is a three. That leaves open minutes at Center.

If anyone gets the short end of the stick, it makes sense that those two are the one who do. Fab’s 7 feet tall and a former first round pick though. Hopefully he at least gets sent to the D-League so he can play somewhere.

I’ve seen him playing for years. He has the body to play in the NBA but I don’t think he has the skills set… he has never been the leader of his team and has never been an offensive or deffensive force.
