Dallas Mavericks Consider Signing Samuel Dalembert

Having swung and missed on Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum, the Dallas Mavericks may now be forced to turn to free agent center Samuel Dalembert. Per the Dallas Morning News: “After Andrew Bynum decided to take Cleveland’s two-year offer, the Mavericks apparently are looking hard at Dalembert, 32, the 26th overall pick of the 2001 draft. On Wednesday night, one source called it a great fit if Dalembert comes to Dallas. It may be the Mavericks’ best option after Wednesday’s events. Bynum came to Dallas and allowed the Mavericks to give his balky knees a good look. Their concerns meant they were not willing to offer Bynum any deal that would contend with Cleveland’s, and the 7-footer who didn’t play a second last season, agreed to join the Cavaliers. And so, the Mavericks keep looking. [...] The Mavericks still have more than $8 million of unused cap space, but there really isn’t another free-agent center out there who deserves all of it. Dalembert and Joel Przybilla are the best remaining names on the free-agent center market. None of them would be considered long-term solutions as the Mavericks search for front-court help.”

Why is nobody throwing money at Pekovic?! I know he’s restricted, but come on, at least put some pressure on the t-wolves? If the Mavs only have $8 mil left then fair enough, but whats everyone elses excuse?
