Indiana Pacers Sign David West to Three-Year, $36 Million Deal

David West, who was an integral part of the Pacers’ Playoff run this past season, will remain in Indiana for at least two (and possibly three, if he opts in) more years. Per Yahoo!: “The Indiana Pacers have reached an agreement with forward David West on a three-year, $36 million contract extension, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The third year of the deal is expected to be a player option. Keeping West had been the major priority of the Pacers’ offseason, and his strong desire to return to the organization made negotiations go smoothly. West hasn’t seriously considered another team. After signing with the Pacers two years ago, he made an immense impact on the floor and in the locker room as Indiana pushed the Miami Heat to seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals this season.”

How much money do the Pacers have? Paul George is gonna get a max deal this year right? So can they afford to put anything else around him West and Hibbert after that? In the future I mean because obviously this year they can afford it.

Had to be done. Great for both sides.

IMO the Pacers need a shooter, Hibbert and West are solid bigs, George can get to the hoop, they need a shooter to spread the floor and knock down shots from George/West/Hibbert kick-outs. Granger can shoot if he comes back but, they’re paying him a little too much for that role. Stephensons sample size is too small to comment for definite on how his shooting is but, at .296% from 3, I don’t think he is there yet anyway.

That third year seems like too much. I would rather have the cap space that summer.

legitimate post player… worth every penny.

Ah, i gotcha. Money would still be pretty tight though wouldnt it?

Considering that Tiago Splitter is getting 4 years for the same price that sounds about right.

yeah , but they are making every move with george in mind. they are well aware of george being a max player if his development continues. if stephenson continues his development, he might be the player that they don’t afford to keep. they are keeping george at all costs though

    – TRADE UPDATE –
Clippers Send Bledsoe To Suns To Acquire Redick,
    Dudley

    Jul 02, 2013 5:57 PM EDT

The Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns have agreed upon a
    three-team trade.

The Clippers will acquire J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley, while sending Eric
Bledsoe and Caron Butler to the Suns. The Bucks will acquire two second round
    picks.

Redick will receive a four-year, $27 million deal as part of the
    sign-and-trade.

The Clippers have long considered Bledsoe as their best movable asset to
improve the structure of their roster. Bledsoe’s minutes were always going to be
limited playing behind Chris Paul and the Clippers would not be able to afford
to keep him on a new deal in 14-15.

A source tells ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne that Doc Rivers was “amazing” during
his dinner on Monday with Redick. The meeting convinced Redick that he wanted to
    join the Clippers.
