Kevin Garnett Ended Beef With Andray Blatche

There’s a nasty history between new Brooklyn Nets teammates Andray Blatche and Kevin Garnett. (KG once nearly made Andray Blatche cry.) However, Garnett randomly extended an olive branch last season and squashed the beef. Per the NY Daily News: “Garnett, for instance, told a reporter that Blatche had no heart, relaying that message through sign language. Blatche once called Garnett, ‘Washed up,’ among other things during a 2010 game between the Celtics and Washington. The former Wizards forward then fought back tears while recounting the exchange to the Washington Post. But Garnett had a change of heart, for some reason. Now they’re teammates in Brooklyn. ‘I can say Kevin, he surprised me,’ Blatche said. ‘We were playing one game against each other, I believe it was last year, in Brooklyn. I was playing against him and he said, ‘Hey man, just keep your head up and keep fighting. When he said that, it caught me off-guard, because me and him have our history, and I said, ‘All right, I guess we’re cool now. ‘I took that in, and ever since then I know everything is over with.’ [...] ‘There are a lot of things off the court I can learn from Kevin Garnett,’ said Blatche, who, even after all the insults, accepted Garnett’s support last season. ‘I’m really excited to have the chance to play with him and learn from him from one of the best.’ Blatche officially re-signed with the Nets on Thursday, becoming a vital frontcourt backup considering Garnett’s age (37) and Brook Lopez’s foot (he recently underwent a third surgery). The Nets understand Garnett can’t deal with starter’s minutes in the regular season, so they’ll lean on Blatche as the first or second player off the bench, depending on where Jason Terry falls in the rotation. ‘(Coach Jason Kidd) stressed to me that the minutes were going to be there, so don’t get discouraged about Kevin Garnett being here,’ Blatche said. ‘He said that the minutes are going to be there.’”

Nice to see a mature response from Blatche. He has the tools, hopefully KG can light a fire under him so he can maximize his potential.

  • spit hot fiyah

    they both became vegetarians

  • danpowers

there will be alot of locker room yelling and crying if blatche doesnt fix his conditioning issues during the summer lol

  • Allan

KG will poop in Dray’s shoe like Gilbert Arenas did lol

  • Basketball_iQ

What is there gonna be in new York’s locker room when the celtics are winning more games than they are? Worried bout that ship wreck over there first

  • danpowers

not that much yelling and crying, coz we’d all just pretend as if we saw that coming and now plz be so kind n get off my d*ck

  • RKJ92

    hahaha Daaaannnnn

  • vINSANITY

I can see KG boxing out baltche if hes 1 rebound from a triple double

  • OfftheWall87

Celtics won’t be winning more games than the Knicks.

  • OfftheWall87

Only teams whose frontcourt will be able to deal with the Nets frontcourt in the East will be Chicago and Indiana.

  • RunNGun

So what was the result of the beef… medium rare or well-done?

  • danpowers

impossible to seriously predict how the knicks will be like this coming season. that roster is a grad bag.

  • danpowers

plz excuse me, was jus a lil hick up ;)

  • OfftheWall87

Same core from last season except without Kidd. I think they’ll win 50. Boston won’t come close to 50 wins.

  • RunNGun

It’s going to be a crazy front court of Lopez, Garnett, and AK/Pierce and a back court of Williams and Johnson/Pierce. Looks great on paper…

it’s hard to hold a grudge against someone when you know how much worse poop in your shoes is.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he didn’t have those issues last season…..

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

we promise they will be better than Boston.

  • danpowers

kidd had a big impact on that 54 win season and im afraid that this bargniani trade created a whole new chemistry and defensive issues as i guess that he will play more minutes than novak and camby combined. im really not so sure if that will serve the knicks well given their defensive liabilities: melo – at least when playing the 3, felton, stat and bargniani. that are at least 4 rotation players. chandler is a very good defensive anchor and shumpert a great wing defender, but i dont know if they are enough to make up for all that mess…

  • danpowers

meh… just wait for bargniani + stat + x go down at the same time

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    that might help.
    .
but seriously, the Celtics are tanking. you don’t have to worry about them.

  • danpowers

that guy was just worried about the celtics – i dont care about them at all.
i am just worried about the knicks and if they go down then maybe even further down south than the celtics lol

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

ohhhh my bad, i meant for the role he was playing. i don’t think you can ever expect him to be in 36MPG shape/

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

that guy up there is reckless with his opinion. not the first thing he’s said that was way way way off. although i don’t exactly remember what it was about last time.

  • danpowers

im just not so sure what kg is going to expect from him. he probably matured since he abused poor big baby davis… i just dont hope so for the sake of entertaining headlines

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i don’t think Andray Blatche is the type of dude you can treat like Glenn Davis was treated bruh

  • danpowers

i seem to have something in common with that guy lol

  • danpowers

    :(

  • OfftheWall87

Melo’s never won less than 43 games in a season. On talent alone, they’ll get to that. I don’t see the Celtics winning 40 games. Kidd had a huge impact on the maturity of the team more than anything else. They’ll miss his presence. They could mess around and get a 6th or 7th seed in the East even with their defensive issues. Boston’s not making the playoffs.

  • danpowers

if you guys rlly promise that i got one worry less for the summer lol. thx guys

  • Sancheezie

lol no way, thats sounds toooo immature

  • Sancheezie

    lol that cant be true

  • OfftheWall87

The Knicks will be better than the Celtics. You can relax.

  • Marvin

story time with this 1, i gotta kno about this haha

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Gilbert Arenas did it to him his rookie year

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Lol, KG is all bark. Andray Blatche prolly all bite.

  • danpowers

all bite guys normally become fighters – not basketball athletes. anyway, am just hoping for more of that stuff lol

  • Allan
  • JL

Wait, Lopez had his 3rd surgery? Man, he actually bent the screw that they inserted into his foot. If only Yao had this technology. Seriously though, that’s kinda scary. At least he played through the whole year without issue though.

  • Sancheezie

wow. haha. thats all i have to say

  • Elizabeth M. Lane

what Sarah explained I am taken by surprise that a student can get paid $4017 in one month on the computer. did you look at this page www.KEP2.com

  • Evan Boland

I don’t know. I have a feeling they kind of know now that they aren’t title contenders, and that could definitely effect effort.

  • Evan Boland

    … Yeah, no.

  • Herbsman2OO

Is that because you suck c0ck all day?

  • bobo
