LA Clippers Close to Deal With Byron Mullens

Free agent big man Byron Mullens is nearing a two-year deal with the LA Clippers, according to multiple published reports. The second year of the contract has a player option for the seven-footer. Per the LA Times: “The two sides are getting close to a deal that would pay Mullens the veteran’s minimum of about $1 million. Mullens made 38.5% of his shots last season, including 31.1% of his three-pointers. He averaged 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in 53 games, 41 as a starter. Both sides hope to have a deal in place Thursday, the executives said.”

they need to get deeper at the 4 and 5 spots, and they get a 7 foot shooting guard.

Should have went after Dalembert, but hey he’s 7 feet tall!

Well at worst, he’ll still help spread the floor. Which is what they need right? But then again, they just got Redick and Dudley for that too.

exactly, they need someone who can play defense and rebound of the bench. someone like reggie evans would do the job, but they let him walk even though he was super cheap and was the x factor in their only playoff series win in recent memory.

Good signing by the Clips. Can’t figure out why the Bobcats would let him go.

I liked Reggie but he ordered zero on the offensive end. So when they had to dump mo Williams they ended up getting Odom. No sense in paying Reggie over 3 mil to be 3rd string. I’m fine with that move.

As for this move, what do you expect for the minimum. Like I said in the last post: it’s not like their losing out on PFs signing for the minimum. They’ll sign a PF as soon as one is willing to take the min. As long as teams like the bobcats and hawks are throwing $$ around, theyll have to wait
