Orlando Magic to Sign Ronnie Price

Free agent guard Ronnie Price, who played last season for the Portland Trail Blazers, has reached an agreement to sign with the Orlando Magic. Per CSNNW and the Orlando Sentinel: “The length of the deal is still being finalized, however Price will receive the veteran’s minimum and at least one year guaranteed, according to the source. Price, 30, played in 39 games for the Trail Blazers last season before being waived at the trade deadline to make room for Eric Maynor who was acquired via trade. For most of the season Price was hampered by a nagging ankle injury he sustained during the preseason. I’m told he is completely healthy now. […] Price, who turned 30 last month, likely will serve as the Magic’s third-string point guard, occupying a role similar to the one Ish Smith had at the beginning of last season. Price has played for four teams during his eight-year NBA career. […] Jameer Nelson will enter the season as the Magic’s starting point guard, and his primary backup likely will be rookie Victor Oladipo or third-year combo guard E’Twaun Moore. The Magic elected not to re-sign free-agent point guard Beno Udrih this offseason. Udrih, 31, likely will command a multiyear deal, and the Magic didn’t want to add any salary commitments beyond the 2013-14 season.”
