Paul George Says He Won’t Leave Indiana for the Lakers

by Marcel Mutoni @ marcel_mutoni

Indiana Pacers star forward Paul George inadvertently opened a can of worms, when he allowed that he might be tempted to bolt if the Los Angeles Lakers recruit him during free agency next summer.

The Pacers have made it clear that they will do everything they can to retain George (who will be a restricted free agent in 2014), and Paul sounds like he’s perfectly happy in Indy despite the persistent calls from back home in California.

Per Yahoo! Sports:

Indiana Pacers guard Paul George is spending the week here training at USA Basketball’s minicamp. And every time he runs into a Los Angeles Lakers fan in Sin City, they’ve had the same message for him: “Paul, are you coming to L.A.? Let’s get you in L.A.’ That’s all I’ve been hearing since I’ve been out here,” George said after Monday’s practice at USA Basketball minicamp. Paul will enter the final year of his $3.2 million rookie contract with the Pacers next season. The All-Star had a breakthrough year last season averaging career-highs of 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He averaged 19.2 points in the postseason while leading Indiana within one victory of the NBA Finals.

Indiana can’t offer near the same luxuries off the court that Los Angeles does. Still, George is excited about the future of the Pacers, including the recent re-signing of forward David West. George also is happy that Bird and Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard are at USA Basketball’s minicamp to support him. The Lakers, meanwhile, are transitioning after Dwight Howard departed in free agency for the Houston Rockets. “I’m happy to be in Indiana,” George said. “I’m happy to be where I am. If I was going to leave Indiana and come to the Lakers, it just wouldn’t be a smart move for me. We got a great thing going right now.”

Even if Paul George wanted to leave, it would be nearly impossible. The Pacers can match any offer that comes his way next summer; Indiana is also a team on the rise, and poised to challenge for supremacy in the Eastern Conference for years to come.

Kobe Bryant and the Lakers will more than likely have to shop elsewhere for young talent next year.

The article says nearly impossible and they are right. That’s why the first stories coming out of LA were that they are going after Lebron or Melo bc PG is virtually untouchable from Indiana’s standpoint. Lakers fans might as well forget about this happening.

  • spit hot fiyah

the only way he could even leave would be to reject any extension that indiana throws at him while accepting the qualifying offer and play on a one year deal for a few million with the risk of getting hurt and at the same time passing up a max deal (some team will give him a max offer next summer if he is not extended before that), in other words, not happening.

  • spit hot fiyah

this does look pretty bad @ss

Kobe smiling like “and y’all thought I was finished?”

  • RayJr

I wish! That is the plan though.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I think a lot of Laker fans are so desperate after Dwight left that they’re willing to beg for any star player to come play for the Lakers. There are so many Laker fans who hate LeBron I mean hate him more than they hate the Celtics. Hell some were rooting for the Celtics to beat the Heat in the 2012 ECF. My point is it’s funny how now some of those fans are lobbying for LeBron to come play for the Lakers.

  • robb

I think the Lakers would have a better chance if Jerry Buss was still around, but I don’t think Fredo Corleone could make it happen.

  • phislammajamma

    never going to happen

  • shockexchange

Can someone get a pic of Thor, Iron Man and Wonder Woman in a Lakers uniform? That would be pretty bad @ss

  • shockexchange

In the Shock Exchange’s opinion, when Paul George said he was “tempted” to bolt for LA, it was signal that he wanted the Pacers to enter a bidding war.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Who would be Thor, Iron Man and Wonder Woman?

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

    Nice Godfather reference.

  • RayJr

I’m a Lakers fan and I like Lebron and would welcome him with open arms. Yeah some of the fans are getting impatient and desperate but the Lakers really have to throw out pitches to Lebron and Melo first BUT they have to opt out after next season. If they don’t and Lebron, Melo, and PG are off the table then who else is out there? Dirk? Granger?

  • spit hot fiyah

and lebron and melo looikng like: please retire already

  • spit hot fiyah

    didn’t say that it will

  • shockexchange

Horry Jr smiling like, “and ya’ll thought I was going to pass the ball?”

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I’m right there with you. I think we have a better chance of getting Melo than LeBron. Melo has a great relationship with Kobe, LA is the best market other than NY, and his wife would be right at home. As for LeBron I use to think he would come but he’s won 2/3 Finals, 2FMVP,2MVp, and a gold medal. I think he stays. I think Dirk has been so loyal to that organization and Cubes that he’ll retire a Mav. I wouldn’t want Granger to be honest.

  • Tony Taylor

“hmm you just think i’m passing”
nba trash talk uncensored vol. 1-10

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

well it’s not really his choice lol

  • ChosenOne

Well the Lakers are obviously looking for a Small Forward (a 3) for 2014. Is there any way they could get Kevin Durant. Would it be a case of a sign and trade to make it happen??

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Well he did sign a fat a$$ extension 2 seasons ago I believe so I don’t think that’s even remotely possible. Not sure gotta read up on that one.

  • L. Logan

This is all nonsense. What does anyone expect him to say? He doesn’t want to incite his fan base 2 years before he can leave on his own. The Lakers wouldn’t even bother to make an offer on him in 2014, knowing the Pacers would match. They would just tell him to accept Indiana’s one year qualifying offer instead of an extension and become an unrestricted free agent in 2015. That’s when he could get true Max money anyway from the Pacers. But that’s also when the Lakers would offer a 4 year Max and the opportunity to lead the franchise in his L.A. home town. Especially if the Pacers haven’t accomplished anything by then.

  • ChosenOne

    Thanks man.
I was a little unsure on how the Lakers could pull it off. I mean it’s the Lakers we’re talking about here, and they always seem to pull off these kind of things. So KD has signed a huge contract.. which means Lakers would have to give up picks and a few players. Who could they possibly trade to get him? Unlikely. Melo is realistic though. Very realistic.

  • ChosenOne

You really do have a grudge against him don’t you? Damn!

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Exactly, you’d have to pretty much gut the whole damn team lol as much as I would love to sign one of these superstar players I’d be content on signing a Cousins, Wall, etc type of player(s). Guys that aren’t really superstars yet but are right on track to being so. I know they’re the Lakers but you can’t hit the homerun all the time.

  • RayJr

I think Melo is a lock for 2014 in LA because of your reasons. Lebron, I would say is around 25% depending on this next season with the Heat. If Wade and Bosh struggle I believe he will opt out. Yeah Dirk is retiring a Mav and Granger might be a possibility if he has a strong season. Granger injury prone so I don’t see LA taking that gamble unless he was the best option available.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

As long as Miami is in the hunt for a title i.e the ECF and/or Finals I think it’s a lock he stays. I would love for the Lakers to go after Cousins and/or Wall. They played together in college and both have promising futures.

  • ChosenOne

How do you see the Lakers chances this upcoming season?

So I’m assuming this will be their starting five:
    PG- Nash
    SG- Kobe
    SF- Nick Young
    PF- Gasol
    C – Kaman
I definitely think they’ll make the Playoffs, most likely the 4th or 5th seed. That Big 3 core of Kobe, Gasol and Nash is crucial to this season. They need to be clicking and injury free (Kobe is back for training camp hopefully). Jordan Farmar will be a nice backup for Nash when he’s resting. This could potentially be a really good season and surprise everyone and make the Finals!… or a first round exit.
Lakers have their own “Big Three” but can they utilise it?…

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

To be honest I don’t see them being anything higher than a 6 or 7 seed. I love the line up but the rest of the WC has gotten so much better. OKC, SAS, LAC, GS, MEM are all better IMO. I don’t think they’re completely finished like some people say they are but with the recent addtions they’ve made I think they are a solid squad to say the least.

  • Dagger

Let me get this straight. The Lakers barely sneaked into the 8th seed last year. They lost a top-10 or, given his injuries, top-15 player in the off season. Their best player is in his mid-thirties and is recovering from a devastating injury that is usually a career-killer for guys his age. Their second and third best players are 33 and 39, respectively, and look to be fading.

But despite all that, you expect the Lakers to perform better next season. You evidently expect them to have a better record than the Grizzlies and the Warriors, and possibly also teams like the Clippers or Rockets.

That’s remarkable. Got to love/hate Lakers fans.

  • ChosenOne

First of all, I aint a Laker fan.

Kobe will be back for the start of the season. If he aint, and he doesn’t get back ’til around December, then yeah, they can forget it. But I’m betting all my money Kobe is ready for opening night.

    So…

Nash isn’t fading, he’s had a full summer off now, and he will be ready. He doesn’t rely on athleticism at all. He will be fine. 39 is just a number to Nash.

D’Antoni favoured Dwight (who was a liability) last season over Gasol, which meant he lost his rhythm and didn’t play “his game.” Even Phil said this.
But now Dwight is outta here, D’Antoni has no choice but to make it work with Pau. He’s fine.
Spurs, Thunder, Clippers, and then Lakers.
    I believe.

  • Basketball Coach

that would be nice to watch.

    http://basketballcoach.ca/

  • ChosenOne

I’m sleeping on Memphis, but I’m not sure why? They got pounded by the Spurs, and for some odd reason were favourite to beat them? Crazy. They choke, as they shoulda beat the Clippers the year before as well, but they blew that.

And Golden State, while they did acquire Iggy, lost Jarret Jack who in my opinion shoulda been 6th man of the years last season, and Carl Landry. Can a backcourt of Curry and Klay stop Lakers in Playoffs? Kobe would have to go full court on Klay with Nash and Young double teaming Curry once he gets open. But is Bogut stopping Gasol and Kaman? Hell no.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Memphis is much tougher down low which I think will give them problems. The backcourt of the Lakers can’t defend the backcourt of GS so they’ll get torched.

  • ChosenOne

Yeah, I mean Randolph and Gasol will be tough for the other Gasol and Kaman. But the Lakers may avoid them in the Playoffs due to Memphis being in a tougher division and therefore may have a lower seeding come playoff time than the Lakers.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

It’s all a mystery until the season starts. There have been quite a few new pieces added to a lot of the teams so it should be interesting to see how they all mesh together.

  • ChosenOne

The Western Conference will be great to watch, and to see how it pans out. The East however…

  • LobCity

If Kobe is back and plays well, I see them as an 8th seed. If teams fall apart again down the stretch like rockets and jazz did last season, maybe a 7th seed. They’re defense is going to be atrocious and their depth is weak. Nobody bough into MDA’s system last year. If they let Nash have the ball and run the system, they’ll be a fun, high scoring team and the scrubs will get a bunch of easy looks. If Kobe dominates the ball again and forces MDA change his style, they’ll have a shot at Wiggins.

However, I think the Kobe injury is getting overlooked. I think ACL/Achilles injuries are no joke and its the 1st major injury of his career . He’s played hurt a lot, but there’s a difference between tolerating pain and requiring a surgery that takes 6-9 months of recovery. When Chauncey Billups came back from his Achilles Injury, he took the D-Rose approach and practiced with the team for months before coming back. He came back in December still had to deal with inflammation, hamstring issues , etc. He basically struggled the whole year to knock off the rust. So my point is, this injury isn’t about his unquestioned work ethic, it’s about how his BODY responds to a serious injury. Remember Kobe doesn’t practice much during the season so it’s gonna be difficult to catch up during the season if’s not ready to go when the season starts. I’d let the man get right rather than throwing out preseason predictions like the idiot of an owner.

  • Dagger

Next year’s iteration of the Lakers is paper-thin and injury-prone. Despite the presence of Nash, the team lacks shooting, and it lacks athleticism. It also might be the worst defensive unit of any team that has a hope of reaching the playoffs. I think Gasol will have a big year as well, but he can’t hold the fort against the bigs on any of the contending western conference teams.

Chances are it will be ugly for the Lakers next year, even if the team avoids injury.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I think the East will be interesting as well. Miami is obviously the best and has been the last 3 years but Indy, Chi, and BK are all legitimate threats IMO.

  • Dagger

The Knicks should have a good regular season as well. It’s easy to mock that team, but their scorers/shooters are dangerous.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Knew I was missing someone. They’ll be good during the regular season but I see another 1/2 round exit.

  • LakeShow

I’d like to utilize the g/wing players we have now and have a small roto for the 1,2,3. I’d still like Gasol and Kaman/Hill to share majority time at the 4, and 5 though.

I’d like to see lineups like

    Nash
    Meeks
    Kobe
    Gasol
    Kaman

    Or

    Blake
    Farmar
    Young
    Hill
    Gasol

    Or

    Nash
    Farmar
    Johnson
    Gasol
    Hill

I think the liability defensively is already there in the back-court. Nash and KB can’t guard great back courts already so just admit to that liability and try to make up for it with speed and quickness defensively while sending a big to collapse on any guard penetration. And on offense try to out run them and out skill them in the half court.

This season is going to be way more fun than last season which is hilarious considering we just lost that fun loving guy haha. It’s going to be fun because it is going to be intelligent, fast paced basketball, and we have allot more athleticism and speed than last season. And to top it all off 3 point threats.

D’Antoni should be excited to try to make this team into something special.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I’m very excited for this upcoming season. I see potential in the possible lineups you posted. The defensive liability is screaming but the offense production is promising.

  • LakeShow

    Shooters:

    Meeks
    Young
    Johnson
    Nash
    Farmar
    Kobe

    Blake

    Athleticism:

    Farmar
    Young
    Johnson
    Meeks
    Hill

Defensively I won’t argue, but they are going to get it done on the offensive end.

Sans major injury 6th seed. Major injuries… 7th or 8th seed.

    Last year was ugly.

This year is looking more promising if the guys can keep their appendages attached.

  • LakeShow

I wish we had one tweener 3/4 also.
Someone like Derrick Williams/AK-47/ Shane Battier.
    But that ain’t happening.
I hope the team signs CDR. I realize he is another 2/3, but I love that dudes game.

  • LakeShow

    I hate LeBron.
    Go Celtics against LeBron lol.
I don’t want Bron on the Lakers AT ALL. I want Paul George though. Too bad it ain’t happening.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Me too but wishful thinking. Those are hard to find and the ones who are out there are already taken as you stated a few examples. Not sure why we let him go last year. Cap space issues? I don’t think it’s that because he’s not an expensive player.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

We all know you do bud lol I dgaf who the Celtics are playing I never root for them. I wouldn’t mind having LeBron on our squad but I just don’t see it even happening. Not one bit.

  • LakeShow

    was preferring them…
Not rooting for those blimey bastards! lmao

  • LakeShow

He’d sign with the Lakers for the minimum. For some reason teams have not thought he would be good for them. I can’t figure out why. He needs to apply himself defensively more-so, but he can do that. He is too skilled to not be on a squad imo. He does need to work on the consistency of his jumper.
I think he’s a guy who works best with the ball in his hands. (ex:Tyreke Evans) When he doesn’t have the ball he is disinterested it appears. I think he’d be marvelous in D’Antoni’s system if he could apply himself. Big IF though I guess…

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

    Goooooood

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

A consistant jumper is a big deal so I can see why teams pass on me. Yea big if but hopefully we get to see him in purple and gold.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Haha I said me I meant him.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

He’s getting a max either way dude

  • shockexchange

If it was so obvious he was getting the max either way then why would Larry Bird have to publicly affirm, “We’ll match any offer.” Paul George is from California and the Lakers is a marquee franchise – so it’s unspoken that he would be tempted to play there. That said, what did he have to gain by publicly stating the obvious? As the theme from “Jeopardy” plays ad infinitum …

  • robb

Team chemistry will be 10x better also. Now I’m not saying they’ll have a great year, but I’m sure they’ll do better than expected.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

To shut people up? It should end the speculation that is being carried on by the ignorant. If you have trouble identifying the ignorant, it’s the people who think there will be a bidding war.
    .
    You are welcome.

  • shockexchange

To shut people up … at the expense of pissing off the Pacers fan base – the most rabid and intelligent fan base in the L? Anybody who believes that is truly ignorant.

  • LakeShow

You have taught KobeOne-Konobi very well.

  • bike

On paper it doesn’t look great. But on paper last year they looked like title contenders and look what happened. If everyone can stay off the DL the key will be Gasol and how well he plays. A lot will depend on how D’Antoni manages him.

  • spit hot fiyah

lmao, u guys should just hang out instead of talking about ball on here

  • LakeShow

Haha, we do technically live fairly close.
It’s just weird to meet people from internet boards no matter how cool they may seem or how much you may relate… lol

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Yea we do huh? lol but it is kinda strange to do that so nope haha

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

why would they be pissed off?

    .

all he said was, “it would be tough to say no to playing next to Kobe, and a chance at playing at home” — there is no reason to be pissed off about that. he wasn’t saying he would say no to the Pacers in lieu of saying no to Kobe. He just said it would be hard to say “no” — which, assuming you aren’t ignorant (and these are the most intelligent fans in the league, according to you) and these fans probably aren’t, it’s pretty simple to see that “hard to say no” doesn’t mean “i’m not returning to the Pacers if LA is interested”
    .
Again, as you said, “the Pacers fan base – the most rabid and intelligent fan base in the L.”

    .
Way to support what i was saying on accident though. Good form.

  • shockexchange

And while we’re stating random facts that have nothing to do with the article – “If you have trouble identifying the ignorant, it’s the people who think (i) the earth is flat and (ii) it was Al Gore who invented the Internet.”

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

LOL might as well have posted this,

  • shockexchange

Is this you Playboy? – ” If you have trouble identifying the ignorant, it’s the people who think there will be a bidding war.” You’ve mastered the art of stating random facts that have nothing to do with the discussion.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

“In the Shock Exchange’s opinion, when Paul George said he was “tempted” to bolt for LA, it was signal that he wanted the Pacers to enter a bidding war.”
    .
Random facts that have nothing to do with the conversation?
    .
I’m not the moron who refers to myself in third person, and then refers to the things i said while referring to myself in third person as irrelevant facts.
    .
That would be “you”….maybe you don’t know what that means…..here, that would be, “The Shock Exchange”

  • shockexchange

Saying Paul George “signaled” he wants a bidding war and “implying” there will be a bidding war are two entirely different things. Paul George spoke on being tempted to play for LA and the person he was actually speaking to – Larry Bird – answered with “we’re match any offers.”

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he didn’t signal he wants a bidding war. BIDDING WAR IS IRRELEVANT ALTOGETHER. it won’t happen. everyone knows he’s getting a max. he knows it. LA knows it. Indiana knows it.
    .
he signalled that he would have trouble saying no to play in his hometown with his hero.
    .
just like any NBA player asked the same question would say.
    .
Bird stepped in to shut up the ignorant people who think he was “signalling” a bidding war…..is that better? now that i used the word signalling? lol you are so special.
    .

there is no more to it then that. you are the one making this into something it isn’t. no rational thought on earth is going to make it look any different.

  • shockexchange

We just have to agree to disagree. It’s obvious that it would be hard to say “no” to his home town team, which also happens to have several banners hanging from the rafters. The typical NBA player in Paul George’s position – a top player on the 2nd best team in the East, with rabid fan support – would not have dignified the question with a response … unless of course, he had an ulterior motive.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    really? prove it.

  • shockexchange

You prove it. Next time you see Paul George at a press conference, ask him if he would be willing to leave his current wife/significant other to date an Ebony Fashion Fair model. Bet you don’t get a response.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Copy & Paste: “You’ve mastered the art of stating random facts that have nothing to do with the discussion.”

  • shockexchange

The comment was on point. Who in his right mind would answer that question and risk alienating their current relationship, unless they had something to gain from it? That’s what you suggested Paul George did by publicly stating his “thirst” for the Lakers.

  • LakeShow

    Hahaha

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he’s not risking anything. what in the world is so hard to understand?
    .
he’s just saying the exact same thing that Paul Pierce said when he was younger in Boston. That he would have trouble turning LA down because it’s his home, but he isn’t going to leave the Celtics to do it. It’s not any different.
    .
Oh, and by the way, it has happened. Numerous times. Players are humans, admitting you still have love for your hometown is not something that does, or should set off anyone’s alarm bells.
    .
As is obvious. George is staying in Indiana. He’s getting a max contract. There will be no “bidding war” — there is no suggestion of one either. — your entire rant is about something irrelevant.
    .
LA has no chance of getting his services. As soon as you understand that, you will catch up with the Pacers and their “most intelligent fanbase in the league” and realize George was just talking about the team he grew up watching, nothing more.

  • shockexchange

Seemed like he was angling for a max contract. Notice how Larry Bird never said “We will give Paul George a max contract.” He only said, “We’ll match any offer.” *Welp*

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yes? do you understand the salary cap or nah? i guess it’s my fault for assuming you weren’t ignorant about the premise.
    .
There are 2 types of “max” contracts. Each team is only allowed to offer 1 player the “5 year max” — so they let them enter Restricted Free Agency, in which that player garners “4 year max contract” offers and then the team matches.
    .
Why they do that instead of just offering them a 4 year max i assume is the next question? or arguing point you will fall to so let me just clear that up as well.
    .
After a rookie deal expires, a player is a RFA (as stated), before his new contract is signed, his value is given a “cap hold” to the team he is restricted to, that cap hold for George will be about 6 million (a full 8 million less than he will sign for), which gives the team that extra cap space to fill roster spots in the mean time.
    .
In other words, by letting George enter restricted free agency, the Pacers gain 2 months of extra cap space. It’s not a bidding war. Everyone (including Paul George) knows where George will be, and how much he will be paid. You don’t have a war over a decided outcome.
    .
Does this make sense? Do you understand why “bidding war” is irrelevant and not at all a factor in this?

You types that comment in an article that says, “I’m happy to be in Indiana,” George said. “I’m happy to be where I am. If I was going to leave Indiana and come to the Lakers, it just wouldn’t be a smart move for me. We got a great thing going right now.”

  • shockexchange

That’s exactly what Kyrie Irving said about the Cleveland Cavs. He said it because (i) maybe it’s true and (ii) he has nothing to gain by publicly stating otherwise. You don’t hear Kyrie randomly saying, “Yeah, it would be hard to turn down LA.” *Welp*

  • http://www.offthebackboard.wordpress.com/ Off The Backboard

To add, Kobe is likely out until December (I believe he will play it safe and not rush back). I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs, and I’m anticipating Gasol to go down with an injury in the first half of the season, further reducing their chances.

  • LakeShow

Now that cat is one fellow on the forums i’d hang out with.

  • danpowers

i cant imagine that any of the big names like james, durant, george or anthony would sign with the lakers in the next couple of years. the only franchise changing center in the game just left them for good and as far as i remember (plz correct me if im wrong) they dont really have draft picks to be able to tank.

anyway, lakers fans still got the clips next door to enjoy successful basketball during the next couple of years. could be worse

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Kyrie Irving is an Australian who grew up in New Jersey. Not a California native who grew up a Lakers fan idolizing Kobe Bryant. Try again.

  • shockexchange

More random facts that have nothing to do with the discussion Playboy? – “Kyrie Irving is an Australian who grew up in New Jersey. Not a California native who grew up a Lakers fan idolizing Kobe Bryant.” Shaq and Rent-A-Center died to get to L.A. Is the Shock Exchange to believe they too were California natives who grew up idolizing Horry Jr?

Oh yeah, “The earth is round.” *Welp*

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

What the f^ck are you talking about? George said those comments because of his past. That’s the reason behind them. Lol are you really this dense?

You prove it. Next time you see
Paul George at a press conference, ask him if he would be willing to
leave his current wife/significant other to date an Ebony Fashion Fair
model. Bet you don’t get a response.

  • shockexchange

Is the Shock Exchange to believe that all those banners hanging from the rafters in the Staples Center – the same things that attracted Shaq and Rent-A-Center have nothing to do with it? The Clippers are also in LA, but Paul George wouldn’t have a hard time turning them down. *Welp*

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

The comments were made honestly? That’s all it was. Paul George is a Lakers fan. He idolized Kobe. He honestly spoke the truth. .
    The truth.
    .
    Honesty.
    .
“The Shock Exchange” aka Ralph Baker, should look up what those words mean. Maybe even try and emulate the use of those words in his everyday actions.

  • Caboose

Teams definitely better than the Lakers:
    Spurs
    Thunder
    Clippers
    Grizzlies
    Warriors
    Rockets
Teams probably better than the Lakers:
    Wolves
    Pelicans
    Nuggets
Teams probably worse than the Lakers:
    Blazers
    Jazz
    Kings
Teams definitely worse than the Lakers:
    Mavericks
    Suns

  • Caboose

I think a lot of people overestimate Kobe’s ability to get wins. Stats? For sure. Wins? Ehh

I want to make impossible predictions too!

They suck real bad, but hold off hope kobe can save it. Then before the trade deadline they deal Pau Gasol to the clippers for Chris paul. David Stern comes out of retirement and rejects the trade. They tell Pau not to worry about it, and miss the playoffs.

I’d put the Blazers in the probably better.

NBK whats your favourite pizza topping?? Probably not wood shavings.
    .
I love using shocks lines in everyday settings though… using a knife and fork at the same___________time is an example of this.

Paul George will be a Pacer for life. That is a clear cut fact.

man I can’t stand the Lakers and their fans they think that they are so in title I hope more of these young players stop running to LA or other big market they need to play in places where they have real fans so with that said go Milwaukee go Oklahoma go Cleveland go Go Orlando Go San Antonio go Denver go Minnesota Golden State Sacramento im back to my city go Browns go Cavs go Indian go C-Town!!!!!!! and to anybody if anybody replies eat a you know what

  • LakeShow

    Goddam your an idiot lol.

  • LakeShow

    Yeah… He’d be nice.

  • Caboose

Sigh, never led the L in win shares, win shares per 48, or efficiency. Those things are the best measure of contribution to wins. But go ahead, tell me that your eyes are better than any stats we have.

  • LakeShow

Sticking with my eyes. And the pro’s eyes.

But if you like little dumb stats, here’s some of those!

Kobe Bryant has an all time higher Win share in the playoffs than Bill Russell, Dr. J, Scottie Pippen, Jerry West, Larry Legend, Hakeem, Stockton, McHale. But none of those guys actually helped their teams win… They just got stats, right?
    LMAO Caboose….

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Kobe’s ability to help a team win is both over and under estimated. But Caboose is not wrong,
.The playoffs are longer now then they have ever been, and Kobe has been there 17 times……..
    .
Total Win Shares is not the same as Win Shares Per 48 Minutes. Your are using one stat, to destroy the relevance of 3 combined together? Come on man. He’s right, Kobe is not some guy who makes teams a winner by himself like other’s have proven to be. He helps, definitely and significantly. But he’s more of a great individual performer than an overwhelmingly dominant player.

  • LakeShow

    I agree to a point.

I see what your saying. He isn’t LeBron or Shaq, or Jordan as far as dominance and ability to drag teams to W’s, but to say he is over estimated by people in his sway on a teams ability to win is pretty stupid.

The point with the Win Shares in the playoffs is that you can pull up many stats and make them look how you want. Yes Kobe is a volume shooter who puts a greater emphasis on individual performance over efficient, intelligent, team first plays… But you guys really make yourselves sound stupid when you claim Kobe doesn’t help teams win games….
He doesn’t do it at an all time clip, but he obviously is one of the greatest winners in professional basketball.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

I never once claimed he doesn’t help teams win games. Ever. Don’t lump my opinion in with the extreme ones. What I said is just a reflection on the overly biased Kobe fans, and the overly biased Kobe detractors. I know how great he is/was.

  • LakeShow

I know you didn’t. You defended a guy who roughly said that though.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

“I think a lot of people overestimate Kobe’s ability to get wins. Stats? For sure. Wins? Ehh”
    .
That is not what he “roughly” said.

  • realones09

Good luck winning a championship in Indiana, tell me how that goes bro. Don’t come back home where you have real friends. I wouldnt wish my worst enemies a prolonged stay in Indiana.

  • brad09′

you act like he can’t ask for a trade or ask ind not to match it

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

LOL, because that works for young guys all the time right? How’d that go for Eric Gordon?

  • brad09′

What if PG decides he dosent wanna stay in that hell hole?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

why is it a hell hole? and why would they just trade him to LA because he wants to? LA has to give them something of comparable value. He’s not a real free agent.

  • LakeShow

    Sorry “exactly.”

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

“people overestimate Kobe’s ability to get wins. ”

.”Kobe’s ability to help a team win is both over and under estimated. But Caboose is not wrong,”

“But you guys really make yourselves sound stupid when you claim Kobe doesn’t help teams win games….”

    .

really? we sound stupid? and you are the one putting words in our mouth because you’re ass hurt we said something that in your mind went to the furthest extreme it could? and we sound stupid?

  • LakeShow

What does that mean? Ass hurt.
It sounds like it has roots in gay activity made into supposed comedic phrasing for provoking someone?

I remember when butt hurt was retired here, but it appears ass hurt is still fair?
I ask you, what does it mean for one to be ass hurt?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    Ass Hurt:

A display of bruised feelings; usually over something lame.
