Phil Jackson Recruiting Dwight Howard to Lakers Over Twitter

The Zen Master has officially thrown himself into the Dwight Howard Sweepstakes. Phil Jackson, who’s a consultant of sorts for the Los Angeles Lakers, messaged Howard on Twitter that he expected the free agent to “get on board”: “@dwighthoward ‘i’m going up to the country going to paint my mailbox blue.’ While i’m there I expect to see you get on board tis ur place.’”

can someone please translate that tweet into english?

  • Clos1881

Man why should he return he has a run and gun coach a injured Kobe an always injured Nash and pau smh

Meanwhile, note how strangely quiet D’Antoni has been.

  • RayJr

He doesn’t have the cojones to make it his team. He’s going to run away to the Rockets. The Lakers are stupid to pick D’Antoni over him though.

I think Phil Jackson wants Dwight Howard to help paint his mailbox. Zen bro.

  • Dev

I think the same thing, but firing D’Antoni means they’re paying three coaches. Dwight ran once and he’s gonna do it again

I don’t know why D’Antoni wouldn’t like his game. (See what I did there?)
Dwights a punk, but his game is well suited for D’Antoni’s offense don’t you think?

    Magic colors too…

Well I don’t think they’d still be paying Mike Brown considering he’s coaching another team right? You can’t get two salaries from two separate teams can you?

I am by no means a Lakers fan, but seriously, this has got to stop. why are they kissing this guy’s a**? True, he is a physical specimen, but Howard is not and will never be a center on par with the great Laker centers. He works well as a part of a great team, but not as the franchise cornerstone. He will be a disappointment becasue he does not have the mental toughness to be one of the greats, and when adversement comes he is the first to flee. Not to mention that he is definitely not staying so it makes the Lakers look like the desperate girlfriend trying hard to keep the relationship going (no, wait, dont go we can work it out……) On the real screw this douche and use the dough to find another source for the future. He is not the answer to getting back to the finals……

I truly think Buss ruined the Lakers for at least a few years with his hiring of D’Antoni.

Yeah, I don’t see how D’Antoni’s system is all that bad for Dwight. The Dwight/Pau tandem looked unstoppable at times but they just couldn’t sustain it for any stretch.

D’Antoni has kept mum up to this point. Wonder if he would prefer Dwight to just walk away at this point…?

    it’s song lyrics

GOING UP TO THE COUNTRY, PAINT MY MAILBOX BLUE
    Taj Mahal

Gonna move up to the country
    Paint my mailbox blue
Gonna Move up to the country
    Paint my mailbox blue
Put some flowers on it baby
Paint some trailin’ vines and dew

You know I’m leavin’ LA baby
Don’t you know this smog’s got me down
    I’m leavin’ LA baby
Don’t you know this smog has got me down
I’m goin’ up to the country
Where there ain’t no doggone smog around

    Well, come here baby
Sugar, let your papa take you by the hand
    Well, come here baby
Sugar, let your papa take you by the hand
    Well, you be my woman
And I’ll be your city-boy, country man.

I’m gonna move up to the country
Gonna paint, gonna paint, gonna paint, my mailbox blue
    Move up to the country
    Gonna paint my mailbox blue
Put some flowers on it honey
Paint some trailin’ vines and dew

The Los Angeles Times reported Brown’s deal with the Cavs will provide the Lakers some relief (perhaps half) of the roughly $7 million they still owe him – http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2013/04/mike-brown-to-sign-5-year-20-million-deal-with-the-cavaliers/

Thank you for that. I wasn’t entirely sure. Yea I don’t see them firing D’Antoni anytime soon.

You notice how often the phrase “does not have the mental toughness to be one of the greats” gets said in regards to today’s players? What happened? Did Wishbone, Arthur, and Magical Schoolbus pollute the younger generation somehow?

  • Evan Boland

You have to be mentally tough to achieve greatness at the highest level of sport.. Or you handpick yourself a group of superstars and former champions, who can step up for you when going through mental lapses, and befriend your competition in order to have a higher comfort level when competing against them.
