Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey confirmed on KZNS that the Jazz are discussing contract extensions for Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors. The Jazz have until October 31 to sign Favors and Hayward to extensions from their 2010 rookie-scale contracts:

I’d pay them both.. Favors 8 million a year, Hayward 6 million a year, because they may have potential but they aren’t proven yet, Favors has a small sample size to work with, and foul trouble. Hayward just needs to take that next big step in his game, so I feel these would probably be the best prices for their services.

if they can get them at those number, i say lock ‘em up. there is risk involved, but there is also the risk that both of them (kind of) blow up this year with the increased reps and they can demand much more on the open market in the future. and i agree with pay both, at the right price

Favors thus far having a Marvin Wiliams like impact. Done jacks squat to deserve any kind of pay day.

They both will probably be overpaid, and Favors gonna be for sure(since bigs are ALWAYS horribly overpaid).

Ya the Jazz need to be smart with these contract extentions.. this could really make, or break their team, as they will be looking to contend in the next few years when they get a solid team around them. It would be sweet to see if Trey Burke develops into a nice pg, the Jazz would deff be a fun team to watch :)

yeah a lot is riding on burke for sure.

they were one of my favorite teams to watch last year, should be even more entertaining this year. the jazz seem to be stigmatized as a boring team a la spurs though for some reason

It’s because the team lacked flair lol, everybody was just solid, and nobody stood out, their team was very meh.. now its starting to get the foundation it needs with the departures of Mo Williams, Paul Millsap, and Al Jefferson; even though I still think they could have netted some solid deals for Al, and Millsap. They are on the right track now, and a team I’m definitely looking forward to watching on league pass!

Favors is going to get like $9-12 mill a year bruh. GH will get $6-9 depending how he plays / when he signs.

Ya I’m just saying that’s what I would pay them, the going rate for a big man these days is in, and around 10 million so I would expect the 9-12 million for Favors, and I see Gordon Hayward getting like a Landry Fields type contract even if he doesn’t play as well as he’s capable of doing. I just hope Utah is smart with these two players, they could be really fun to watch if they get them on good contracts.

is it his fault he’s had two borderline allstars in front of him on the depth chart?

  • jj

landry fields? are you kidding me? Hayward will probably make the Olympic team
