Lamar Odom Arrested for DUI

NBA free agent forward Lamar Odom’s nightmarish summer continues to get worse — Odom was busted for driving under the influence early Friday morning, report TMZ and the LA Times: “The bust occurred in the San Fernando Valley at 3:54 AM. Lamar was popped by the California Highway Patrol and taken to a nearby station, where he was booked and is being held on $15,000 bail. He was pulled over on the 101 Freeway for going too slow — 50 MPH. Lamar did not respond to cops, and drove 3 exits before finally coming to a stop. [...] CHP officials said they spotted Odom driving a white Mercedes sports utility vehicle eastbound on the 101 Freeway near Sepulveda Boulevard. The driver was driving in a ‘serpentine manner’ at speeds of about 50 mph. Authorities tried to pull over Odom, but he continued driving eastbound, passing Van Nuys Boulevard and Woodman Avenue. He exited at Coldwater Canyon Boulevard and came to a stop, CHP officials said. Odom showed ‘objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform field sobriety tests as explained and demonstrated,’ according to a CHP report. Odom was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs. At the Van Nuys jail, Odom refused all chemical tests and was booked without incident, CHP officials said.”

    Dang. This is just sad.

  • http://twitter.com/niQknacks niQ

Wow, this is coming after all those drug rumors. He really needs to get his life together…

  • berkamore

Those “reports” are getting to the press VERY quickly. He was arrested a little before 4:00 am PST in the morning and it’s already in the papers a little after 8 am PST. That’s a quick turnaround to say the least. SMH

it’s LA. Cops get paid by journalists to tell them things.
    .
    Simple.

  • miley circus

It’s 2013 bud, every arrest is placed online and you have actual human beings who are paid to read police arrest websites. Same thing that used to happen with newspapers, but now it’s instant. Been happening for 10 years, I wouldn’t be too surprised at this point.

  • JoeMaMa

    ….serpentine manner…..

  • anon

I had sympathy for this cat until the DUI. This is a guy who went off the rails a couple seasons ago because his chauffeur hit a car and killed another motorist. And now he’s driving DUI?? Imagine if he’d hit and killed someone this time. SMDH

  • K_HOLIDAY

His career is quickly coming to a close. He sort of recovered with the Clippers after that Lakers trade to Dallas almost tore him apart, to now having a horrible summer. Dont think too many teams will be willing to gamble at this point

  • Rig Veda

Lamar Odom has become Lamar Kardashian!

  • Caboose

F*cking idiot. Don’t wanna see him back in the L.

  • Will Lee

    what does D stand for?

  • Caboose

    LA Confidential, awesome movie.

  • Da Real

this guy is a wrap. could have been one of the best ever but he never gave a damn. had a really good career without even trying. perfect case study for wasted talent.

  • initbruv

Wow you’re a f*cking genius huh? You think he’s not aware of the place he’s spiraled in to? Sanctimonious pr*ck.

  • LLC#12

I’d rather see him in the L then broke/dead/in jail.

  • LakeShow

That’s what i’d like to see most.

If you think this guys was on hard drugs his whole life… Think again. None of this horse sh*t started showing up till he started riding that Kardchian Horse B*tch.

He needs to get away from her, get ahold of some NBA alumni’s with good track records, ask them for help and guidance. And end out his career the way he should have.

This is all possible if he surrounds himself with the right people and makes the right choice for him self.

*God Bless Lamar Odom and may he help him find peace and find himself more importantly. *

  • Busta213

Not that he was, but its probably OK to sanctimonious about drunk driving

  • initbruv

My point is that the man has obviously been unraveling for some time now. To say “he really needs to get his life together” is an absurdly obvious thing to say. It’s also sanctimonious because, again, he’s clearly in a bad place right now and rather than have empathy for the man you get people on here calling him an idiot and acting as though they’ve never seen a human being struggle in life.

But you’re right, drunk driving is bad. Lamar Odom was drunk driving. Hence, Lamar Odom is bad.

Much better way to react to the situation.

  • spit hot fiyah
  • pposse

id rather see him off the road.

  • shockexchange

Quit blaming the Kardashians. It’s actually the “Curse of Horry Jr.” Ever since Horry Jr threw Lamar under the bus and had him discarded from LA, his career has plummeted. Shaq, Bynum, Pau (The Gimp) and now Lamar. Rent-A-Center bounced before he fell victim to the curse.

  • LakeShow

    - MUTE BUTTON

  • Alexzandar Davilijanovic

I guess we just miss him as a player, really good player

  • KingBenjamin

Probably wasn’t going to get signed by any team with all the drug rumors etc., heard the Lakers offered him a spot if he attends rehab, but now that he just got arrested the Lakers won’t even want to touch him, his NBA days are officially over, as sad as that sounds it’s more than likely a reality.

  • JoeMaMa

    Dingleberry.

    LMAO! Thats hilarious! LOL!

  • initbruv

Annoyed is the word you’re looking for…you blockhead…though not with you in particular. Therefore, I’m sorry for specifically calling you names. I should have called you all c*nts, collectively.

  • TBRK

this is a brother who has been through a whole lot in his life man….really pray he gets some real help and some good people around him

  • TBRK

could fill a book with stories of the troubled plight NY hoopers….

  • The Philosopher

He’s been coked up for the majority of his career.
I will never forget the sight of him crying on the podium after he was caught with the coke during his second season. (1st or 2nd season)
Either way, hope he gets better.
He’s going out worse than Shawn Kemp.

  • daBiz

another way to look at it: what’s driving a man who survived that tragic experience to risk reliving it.

Sounds like LO is battling severe demons. I just sincerely hope he gets well and healthy. Maybe get away from the kardashians while he’s at it.

  • LakeShow

I haven’t done coke, so I can’t really speak on it. But I do know that is a more controllable upper for most people.

As bad as it is. Coke isn’t as bad as crack. Even if they are from the same derivative.

I’d recon over half the L has done coke, where as only a few have done crack. (that’s a guess, but i’d assume close to correct)

  • Caboose

    Best ever? Uhhh….sure.

  • Da Real

Yes. 6’11″, point guard handles and passing skills, smooth stroke and confident swagger. If he worked half as hard as Kobe he had all the natural tools and skills to be an all-time great.

  • berkamore

Preach, brother. I might be one of the few people who ever saw his first NBA game against Seattle, he dropped a cool 30 and man, he was beautiful to watch (no the LA version that people think is the best he can do).

But I kind of understand guys like Lamar, they are gifted but very sensitive and get easily get derailed (my nephew is like that), but with the right support system (not sure he EVER had any, save his grandma), it’s poetry…….

  • Jay Brodes

think LO isa done! he fell off the wagon and i think this is it.. kinda sad! forget about hoops he has to get well so he actually lives at this point as sad as that sounds. Real Talk!

  • Interdico Scriptor

Sorry Lake. I’m pulling yr card. Everyone in la-la land is on Coke, or has been, or their mother was.
    yes, even you.
So lets admit it and move on.

  • Interdico Scriptor

    why?
    that’s irrational

  • Interdico Scriptor

Uh uh. He’ll end up in LAL land. prob going to meeting weekly (say hi @Lake)

  • Interdico Scriptor

He calls LeBron “The Kang” I think. Only one I can think of, he must save the creative monikers for Laker players…

Word, that’s compassionate way of looking at it. I hope LO gets well too, really. I just think the DUI is really foolish and hard to forgive if he’d hurt someone.

  • http://triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Ahh The Kang…thats one I forgot!?!?!

Come on SE dont leave me hanging…

  • shockexchange

Dwyane Wade – “Black Ric Flair”
Lake Show – “Lake Act” (Cause the Lakers’ season won’t last long enough to be considered a “show”)

  • shockexchange

That’s what the streets calls him. The streets never lie.

  • http://triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Black Ric Flair…. lol. I remember that one too now….
SE is like black olives…. an aquired taste but when you start really appreciating what SE brings, your like…”hmmm I really like the flavour of those olives now…”.
This endorsement has neither been contracted nor scripted.
    Full respect SE.

  • LakeShow

I’ve admitted to use of over 5 drugs on this website. Why would I need to lie now about drug use.

    It’s whatever to me.

My roommates do coke sometimes, I don’t like how they behave and it is highly addictive, no I haven’t done coke and probably won’t unless i’m in Vegas and can’t stay up long enough to get my moneys worth out of a hooker.

I’m not native to LA. From Seattle. My mother hasn’t done any illicit drugs before either.

I could care less what drugs you do or don’t spend time with, so no need to “pull yr card.”

    - Peace

  • Interdico Scriptor

Brother… I apologise. It was funnier when I wrote it, but looking now; I see it comes across as just a stupid thing to say.
    Apologies

  • Interdico Scriptor

I’m pulling my own card from now on
