Larry Sanders Close to $44 Million Extension With the Milwaukee Bucks

As expected, the Bucks and forward Larry Sanders are nearing a contract extension. According to Yahoo! Sports, terms of the new deal are $44 million over four years: “The deal will include bonuses that could push the value of the contract to the $48 million range, sources said. Sanders, 24, emerged as a breakout talent for the Bucks in his third NBA season, averaging 9.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. He’s become one of the league’s best rim protectors and the anchor of the franchise’s frontline. The Bucks have undergone a significant makeover in the offseason under general manager John Hammond, who hired Larry Drew as coach and signed free agents O.J. Mayo, Carlos Delfino and Zaza Pachulia. The Bucks also acquired guard Luke Ridnour as part of a three-team deal. Sanders is one of several class of 2010 players in line to receive contract extensions before the October 31 deadline to complete them. The Bucks drafted Sanders with the 15th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft out of Virginia Commonwealth.”

    Lol Pekovic got more money….smh

9.8 9.5 2.6 compare to 16 8.8 .8 it’s understandable pek got more money. I still prefer larry’s overall game specially the Defense

They should swap teams. That would be perfect for both of them…

    Hey there nbk.

You might be able to answer my question about Pekovics contract: Did the wolves now elect to have Pekovic as their Designated player? I thought teams were only able to sign one player to a 5 year contract. Since Love didn’t get it because they were saving it for Rubio, I started doubting whether I understood the rule correctly. Now I read that under some circumstances teams can get a second 5 year deal but I think only if they trade for it….
Are the wolves all of a sudden sold on Pek? Do you think they plan to trade him before Love and Rubio can jump ship? What am I missing here!?

    I’m confused…

    but JC…

The question is, would you rather have Larry Sanders or Nikola Pekovic

  • LakeShow

Pek can maybe give 18-20ppg at 50%. With mediocre defense.
Sanders gives you elite defense at the most important position to have that, while also being gifted offensively enough to improve to a 15+ppg guy.

Sanders has the edge in my book.

Pekovic was picked in the 2nd round. So he wasn’t on a rookie scale contract, and therefore was eligible for a 5 year deal without affecting the designated player rule. .

Cos they gonna trade him when he is not puttin up numbers.bucks management are so fucked up to the point that they do not know how to keep the core of a team.just sayin

I wouldn’t say that Pek’s defense is mediocre though. He performs very well as a man-to-man post defender and although he’s not a traditional rim protector shot blocking wise (which is why he doesn’t fit that well with Love) he’s a smart enough mover to not be a total liability as a help defender either. Not saying he’s elite, but statistically (dws/drtg) as well he’s above average. It really depends on your needs, I think I might give Pek a slight edge because even though Sanders might be able to give you 15ppg as you say (although I think that would be his ceiling), it would be mostly hustle points. Pek is a player you can actually go to for point production (whether it’s in P&R situations or posting up) which is rarer. But again, really depends on your needs… And Pek is def more of a badass, so if anything I’d give him the nod because of his skull tattoo.
