Corey Maggette—coming off of a quiet season but just one year removed from averaging 15 points per game with Charlotte—will reportedly join the Spurs for training camp.

Wait he’s still in the league? He hasn’t retired?

  • Solito

He got 10 million to ride the pine and heal his injuries last year with the pistons. So if the Spurs get a healthy version this season, he should give them at least 10-15 of the bench this season with a low risk contract… Smart move.

This guy underachieved his whole career, he could have been really special.

Agree. I think he left college too early (after one year) and never really learned to play. (which is a shame because he went to Duke and Coach K could have really developed him had he stayed put). So he didn’t have much of a foundation to build on when he turned pro. Oh well, at least he played in the League for a while………..

Is anyone else in the history of basketball more averse to passing the ball than Corey Maggette?

    Vince Carter
    Stephen Jackson

  • LakeShow

    For real?
Carter and Jackson both played play maker at some point in their career. Something you can’t say of Maggette.

Carter was right around 5 apg for a few seasons and Jackson played point guard essentially for the Warriors and dished out 7 dimes a game one season.

I was thinking maybe Al Jefferson.

May be a candidate for the most solid player who could have been much more than solid ever.

  • LakeShow

For some reasons it’s not as down looked upon with the front court players…

    Maggette wins hands down haha.

  • Rig Veda

Both of them seem to much confident, but always under performed and they get worse as they get older.

  • LakeShow

He said did anyone like to pass any less than Maggette. What does confidence, age, and under performing have to do with that?…

  • JibbsIsBallin

Well according to this article, the answer is no to your second question.

  • Laquisha

Shame this is not the Maggette of 2005 but still this is not too bad of a move, just to see how he goes in training camp. He literally warmed the bench for the entirety of last season at the Pistons so he’s not carrying any baggage with him. If the SA Spurs end up signing him as a backup SF, I would not mind too much, especially when Kawhi is expected to play 30-35+ a night.

My player on 2K13 got drafted by Pistons, I litererally hate the man for taking contected two’s while im open in the paint -_-

  • Max

This is what I will remember the guy for.

  • danpowers

if you think this is bad, try to play alongside derrick rose. he is in full conference finals 11 mode all the f*cking time

  • danpowers

looks like the spurs decided to acquire a washed up small forward as a mascot again

  • danpowers

dont hate the player, hate the ref

  • vp

He changed his pivot foot 5 times before he did that. Wow

  • Stepfan Raiford

On par with Dan Majerle’s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M2jChbThPE

  • LakeShow

He only took 11 steps before he decided on a pivot foot. No biggie…
