Greg Foster Reportedly Joining Sixers Coaching Staff

Big man Greg Foster made nine different stops during his 13-year NBA career, and, a decade after retiring, it looks like he’ll make a 10th. According to SB Nation, the Sixers have hired Foster to join new coach Brett Brown’s staff in Philly. “According to sources close to the program, UTEP assistant coach Greg Foster has reportedly been offered a job by the Philadelphia 76ers, and he has accepted the position. His official title isn’t known at this point, but it is apparently a done deal. Foster played two seasons as a Miner from 1988-1990, and was part of a team that won back to back WAC tournament titles. He was even named the 1990 WAC tournament MVP. Following his days at UTEP, Foster enjoyed a 13 year career in the NBA, playing for nine different teams, reaching the NBA Finals three times, and eventually winning a ring with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001. As an assistant for the [UTEP] Miners, he was a very good recruiter on the west coast, especially in Northern California, where he helped to land current Miner McKenzie Moore. He will now make his return to the NBA after just three years coaching at the collegiate level.”
