Harrison Barnes Fine With Potential Bench Role

The Warriors’ acquisition of Andre Iguodala might force Harrison Barnes, one of the postseason’s breakout players, into a bench gig for the upcoming season. The second-year man is fine with that. Per InsideBayArea.com: “Warriors budding star Harrison Barnes said he isn’t concerned about whether he starts. He isn’t even consumed by being on the court at the end of games. ‘Winning the game matters more to me,’ Barnes said. Barnes, who started all 93 games he played last season including playoffs, is the center of a major question as the Warriors close in on training camp at the end of this month. With the acquisition of swingman Andre Iguodala, Golden State now has six players with starting credentials, meaning someone has to come off the bench. ‘I can imagine much worse problems,’ Barnes said. ‘I feel confident about this team and where we can go. Regardless if I’m starting or coming off the bench, I think we have a chance to make a serious playoff push.’”

We already went over this SLAM.

Let me guess the next one, “Lance Stevenson okay with coming off bench.”

What is he suppose to say and I don’t like this move I know he’s coming in to be a defensive specialist but either Harrison or clay is gonna have to go and I think it’s gonna be clay.

he’s going to get more minutes! minutes is what matters. let’s stop over reacting to being on the floor for tip off.

Harrison Barnes is a Franchise Player, he will start eventually.

  • Gusbus

Of course he’s going to say he’s ok but someone of his talent really should be starting

  • Mike From Spain

You got Iggy and Harrison Barnes in your team, who do you start? It’s a no-brainer to me

  • Busta213

    Really?

  • Clos1881

Most definitely as Isaiah Thomas said he will be the best player on the team

  • Max

Or “DRose expected to play in opener”.

Whenever I think about just how quickly GS became a playoff/WCF contender it reminds me of JWest’s unmatched on/off the court greatness. No one has or had more impact on the history of the League than the Logo.

  • Lenin-Gil Phillips

Yes! I also believe he was the best player in his draft.

  • CzechMate

There’s a sports clothing line from the 90′s called starter and I think he deserves to be a starter. I wrote it kind of awkwardly lol

  • Smits#45

    Okay, that makes sence. Thanks!

You’re not going to be wrong, Barnes is too versatile to not be getting at LEAST 28 minutes a night. He can be used against 2′s (in certain match ups), 3′s, and 4′s (in small ball). If anything I’d say this is one of the safer opinion’s headed into next season.

  • RKJ92

LP, Barnes will easily get more minutes because of his size, and versatility he will be exploiting different facets of the other teams in the league making his production, and asset extremely valuable to the Warriors. For you not to think that just because he is moving to a 6th man position he wont get more minutes is ludicrous. This should not even be an argument.

  • LP @ThisisEther

I’m not disputing the minutes, I just want to see…. I wanna see the lineups…. Iggy can play a ton of good minutes too, and you don’t want Steph and Klay off the floor too long…. We will see…
