Knicks, Nets Will Reportedly Share 2015 All-Star Weekend (UPDATE)

UPDATE: The All-Star game itself will be played in Madison Square Garden, with Barclays Center hosting all the other events, the League announced today:

“The 64th NBA All-Star Game will be played at Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Knicks, on Sunday, Feb.15. The BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and State Farm All-Star Saturday Night—Including the Sears Shooting Stars, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Foot Locker Three-Point Contest and Sprite Slam Dunk—will be held at Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.”

The Knicks and Nets have been firing shots back and forth all summer about which team owns New York. Apparently, the League has no interest in ending the debate. The two NYC-based squads will reportedly share the ’15 All-Star festivities. From NYTimes.com:

The N.B.A. is expected to announce Wednesday that New York will host the All-Star Game in 2015. The hosting of the annual event will be shared by the Knicks and the Nets, who will hold events in Manhattan and in Brooklyn. Adam Silver, the league’s deputy commissioner, said in February that one of the New York teams would be awarded the game. A person with knowledge of Wednesday’s announcement said that the game would take place at Madison Square Garden and that many of the weekend’s other events — the dunk contest, the 3-point shooting contest and the skills challenge — would be held at Barclays Center.”

not really, they reported it weeks ago

  • Shifty

They should make it a game where the team with better record up to about 2 or 3 weeks out gets the All Star game.

I’m no expert but I think they’d need more than 3 weeks to prepare to host such an event.

They should have the 1st half in NY, 2nd half in BKLYN, halftime show on the train.

  • Dfrance

This would be a good venue to have a new event where hot WAGs of nba players compete in a beauty pageant. Make it delightfully trashy and titillating where the winner gets the key to the City.

Hahaha James Dolan just embarrassed himself at the presser, Stern had to take his mic away after his rant

About the Garden’s relations with worker’s union. He was about to go deep with its dirty politics then Stern snatched the mic away from him. It was funny cause he kinda looked drunk doing it.
