Thirteen NBA Owners Featured On Forbes 400 Richest Americans List

Forbes has released its list of the 400 richest Americans, and it includes the names of 13 NBA team owners. You might be surprised by who leads the pack. As noted by ESPN.com: “The richest NBA owner is Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos, who comes in at No. 60 on the list with a net worth of $6.8 billion. There are 12 other NBA owners on the list, including [Stan] Kroenke (Nuggets, $5.3 billion), Micky Arison (Heat, $5.9 billion), Dan Gilbert (Cavaliers, $3.9 billion), Charles Dolan (Knicks, $3.3 billion), Tom Gores (Pistons, $2.7 billion), Mark Cuban (Mavericks $2.5 billion), Josh Harris (Sixers, $2.5 billion), Robert Pera (Grizzlies, $1.95 billion), Herb Simon (Pacers, $1.95 billion), Donald Sterling (Clippers, $1.9 billion), Glen Taylor (Timberwolves, $1.7 billion) and [Tom] Benson (Pelicans, $1.3 billion).”

Misleading list since it doesn’t include part owners. Specifically, Mikhail Prokorhov and Paul Allen ($13.0B and $15.0B) respectively.

well it says it’s a list of richest americans. but yeah, prokhorov probably laughs at these numbers

  • Caboose

    Paul Allen?

  • Kobe’sBestFriend

Jordan ain’t on the list…man he’s gota step his game up

  • KingBenjamin

I’m pretty sure Paul Allen is the wealthiest owner in the NBA with an estimated net worth of $15 billion.

  • LakeShow

I’d like to introduce a dead horse: Paul Allen

He is on the list at #26. Slam’s omission I guess. News has become a living thing where you got to do your own fact checking I suppose. Very sad!

  • Caboose

To do that he’d have to stop throwing his money away on stuff like the Bobcats.

  • Max

And they were crying 3 years ago..

  • Gusbus

Surprised to see Robert pera up there considering the grizzlies are such cheap ass’

  • J

Uh the world would be a MUCH better place if everyone ALWAYS did their own fact checking……

  • phamdynasty

Guys stop with this nonsense. Bill Gates nough said. :-)

  • AboveYou

Exactly! I pity the fools who take everything they see/read in the news at face value. It’s not a bad thing that we’re realizing maybe we should look things up on our own. It’s sad that we’re so intellectually lazy that we think it’s unfortunate we have to do our own fact checking.

  • AboveYou

Jordan is mostly an employee. That’s the difference between him and the people on that list. Prior to the Bobcats that’s all he ever really was, as opposed to those guys who are all bosses.

  • spit hot fiyah

maybe his money is in some Cuban bank account? no idea why he is left of

Something tells me that you and perhaps the guy Above You didn’t even click on the link in the article to marvel at the journalistic diligence.

  • AboveYou

Didn’t need to. I actually saw the Forbes list article hours before Slam posted this.

My overall point still stands though. It’s intellectually lazy to not want to do a little digging to get our own info.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Never believe the hype about rich people not making enough money. 11 times out of 10 it’s absolute bullsh!t. I can’t believe anyone would side with them in a dispute between players and owners.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

And by rich I mean people who make obscene amounts of wealth without actually producing anything themselves… i.e. without working.
