The New Orleans Pelicans waived forward Lazar Hayward, who appeared in two preseason games with the team, this past Sunday. Per The Times-Picayune: “The New Orleans Pelicans waived forward Lazar Hayward on Sunday night after he appeared in two preseason games. Hayward, 6 feet 6, 225 pounds, did not play Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks or last Wednesday against the Orlando Magic. Pelicans coach Monty Williams said before the Magic game in Jacksonville, Fla., that Hayward had come down with flu-like symptoms. In Sunday’s game in Biloxi, Miss., Hayward was not seen on the bench. In games against the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks, Hayward totaled two points in 15 minutes. Hayward, who played at Marquette, was the 30th overall pick by the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA draft.”
