Trey Burke Out 8-12 Weeks With Broken Finger

The Utah Jazz announced today that rookie point guard Trey Burke will undergo surgery on his broken right index finger, which is expected to sideline him for 8-12 weeks. Per the Deseret News: “Burke is expected to be sidelined for eight to 12 weeks because the nature of the break requires some pins to be inserted into his finger for a full recovery, his agent said. The Jazz begin their 2013-14 season on Oct. 30, and that timeline would have Burke return somewhere between Dec. 9 and Jan. 6. That could leave the Jazz’s starting point guard sidelined anywhere from 22 to 36 games. Initially, Burke’s camp hoped the 20-year-old would return after three weeks. ‘It’s unfortunate,’ Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. ‘It’s part of the business getting hurt and seeing how he responds.’ Veteran John Lucas III will handle the starting playmaker duties in Burke’s absence, but the Jazz only have roster hopefuls Scott Machado and Lester Hudson on the point-guard depth chart. The Jazz will explore other options as far as looking into trades and evaluating potential free-agent point guards.”

so he is going to have pins in the index finger of his shooting hand?! wow

Half the season. Unlikely. Unless he can pull off 15 9 for the remainder. But what makes you high on Trey Burke’s nba prospect. He’s undersized, not a great shooter, and how will he defend these combo guards. I want alex burks run the point. The only way that favors, kanter will work is with good facilitation.

He’s gonna be taking a a lot NSAIDs and cortisone shots which in the long run wil. hurt his hand. He shoot do what griffin did and take a year off and learn point get bigger and faster.

Whats your opinion of Tomatoes? do you like em?

  • Saleem Rainman

You think Enes Kanter is gonna blow up?

DAMN… Very unfortunate, I was looking fwd to watching him prove many of his doubters wrong… I didn’t think he was going to win ROY, but I do feel he’s going to be a very SOLID NBA pg given the right opportunity. Just from following the kid @ U of M all I know is he is a gutsy gamer/fighter, not to mention his jumper is silky!!! Hopefully he heals up soon and can get back in the groove.

Say what?!? You want Burke to take the entire season off due to a broken index finger, that’s ridiculous!!! Blake Griffin had a serious knee injury which requires up to a year (unless you’re adrian peterson) to heal and recover properly, you’re comparison is way out of bounds. The best way to learn the game and improve is from playing, he needs to take his lumps and give some back!

did you see bennett in his preseason games? i know preseason doesnt mean sh*t but hell, if he shoots the ball just half as good during the season, he is a lock for roy lol.

  • Caboose

Yeah, he looks good. Really good. As long as he keeps his fitness up, he’ll take Thompson’s spot right quick.

  • danpowers

which would be quite tragic is thompson is also looking really good. maybe bennett will also be able to spend some time at the 3 and get gee’s spot instead. that cavs front court looks really nice, especially if bynum manages to get and stay healthy. that cavs team will be able to suprise a lot of people
