Amar’e Stoudemire Hopes to Become a Hall of Famer as a Knick

STAT thinks he’s going to the Hall of Fame, and wants to be recognized for his work in Gotham. Amar’e Stoudemire may be fading as a ballplayer, but he certainly hasn’t lost any self-confidence. Per the NY Daily News: “My mission is to become a great player and hopefully become a future Hall of Fame player and my goal is to do it here in New York and finish off my career here,’ Stoudemire said in the visitors’ locker room inside Washington’s Verizon Center late Saturday night after the Knicks lost to the Wizards, 98-89. ‘That’s the goal. That’s the mission. Continue to work as hard as I always have and to get better and better. Try to dodge injuries.’ In recent seasons, Stoudemire has not been able to avoid injuries and now that his name has come up in trade talks with the Celtics, there’s a question whether he will reach his career goals as a Knick. According to a source, the rebuilding Celtics are willing to take on Stoudemire’s mega-contract, with one season left, at $23.4 million, for valuable future cap space. Meanwhile, the Knicks are trying to keep their season from totally imploding and would get two players, Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries, who could be productive immediately. [...] Against the Wizards, Stoudemire had 12 points and four rebounds in 21-plus minutes. ‘I thought he was a bright spot,’ Mike Woodson said Sunday, before the Knicks departed for the Pacific Northwest. ‘I think we can get back to what we saw last year, before he went down that last time.’”

It seems like very often after a player gets paid $100m+, their careers take a dump. I wonder why? Lol
