Carmelo Anthony Blasts the New York Knicks for Not Trying

Following the Knicks’ 110-90 home loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night, dropping New York to 3-6, Carmelo Anthony ripped his team‘s effort (or lack thereof) when chatting with reporters. Per the NY Post: “I’m disappointed in all our effort,’ Anthony said. ‘We’re not getting it done from an effort standpoint. It’s like we’re not even trying right now. We can’t worry about the boos. We got to play harder. We’re not playing worth a [expletive] right now.’ The last time the Knicks had lost five in a row at home was February 2010, when they broke down the team for cap space in advance of the LeBron James free agency sweepstakes. There was hope of a brighter future back then. Now? Even Anthony doesn’t know after more fans called for coach Mike Woodson’s job, chanting ‘Fire Woodson,’ as the season hit a new low after getting booed off the court. ‘I can’t believe it,’ said Anthony, a free agent this summer. ‘I don’t even know what to say. I’m in awe. I don’t know how to explain it. I don’t know If there is an explanation. It’s surprising. To come into the season with a mindset of being better than we were last year and to be where we’re at right now. I know it’s 3-6, but we got to turn this around quickly. It’s a nasty feeling within the team.’ [...] ‘I know it’s early in the season, but at the rate this is going, we’re going to be in too deep a hole to dig out,’ Anthony added.”

you want to understand what this is all about? there you go “To come into the season with a mindset of being better than we were last year” as long as youre so conceited to think youre better than any other team out there before a single game is played anyway, you wont play with the necessary intensity to win. plain and simple.

    It’s pretty bad on mobile

“I know it’s early in the season, and I have made it clear I will test free agency, yet I still want to attract free agents to NYC, but we have to play better.”

Being a Knicks fan is comparable to a women staying with a cheating man expecting him to change smh…I remember the good old days of Ewing, Oakley, Starks, Jackson, Mason, Sprewell, Houston, Camby, Harper, Johnson why can’t the Knicks get it together? And why am I still a Knicks fan smh?

  • SwissArmyKnife5

I’m still waiting on Metta World Peace to snap, and turn back into Ron Artest…Kenyon needs to be on the court too, but he needs to be a goon. Is it just me or are all the Knicks tough guys not tough anymore? The Knicks use to win games, by bullying, and punking people…I never knew how important Tyson Chandler was, but he’s on some MVP type stuff, cause they look hopeless without him.

It’s tough rooting for this team, but I still have faith. I agree with your post 100% maybe this is what they needed to get there heads out of the clouds.

yup, these first 9 games of the season look like we got the 2000s back. it wouldnt even suprise me if dolan forces mills now to make a panic move and screw things up even more. i really hope they pick it up somehow some way

If using Google Chrome (and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t): Chrome Store > Ad Blocker.

No more ads on SLAM, ever.

    You’re welcome.

i ask myself the same question since these days lol

  • George

So do i. And i cannot find a reasonable answer. After the Ewing era, the team is full of disappointments.

  • That Dude

Mike Woodson is too busy counselling JR Smith about twitter to give a f*ck.

When the Knicks makes everyone available to trade except you(Melo) because u wanting to become a free agent next summer, they don’t play or try as hard or/and the roster they got this year just don’t fit.
