Carmelo Anthony ‘Second-Guessing’ Himself at Crunch Time

According to Knicks superstar forward Carmelo Anthony say that he has been uncharacteristically gun-shy with the game on the line early on in the season. Per Newsday: “In three games, Anthony has scored only 15 fourth-quarter points and hasn’t attempted a free throw. He’s 7-for-22 in the quarter, including 1-for-5 from three. ‘Maybe I’m second-guessing myself,’ Anthony said after Monday’s practice. ‘Maybe I’m a little bit passive out there, trying to do things that’s out of the norm and trying to make people better at the wrong times. That’s where I’m second-guessing myself and I’m second-guessing my shot and should I take this or should I pass this. I’ve got to get out of that mentality quick.’ Anthony isn’t the reason the Knicks, who host the Bobcats Tuesday, are 1-2. They have been turning the ball over more than last year, and their transition defense, overall effort and shot selection led to them falling behind by 23 in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota. But Anthony, who’s shooting 37.7 percent and averaging 21.0 points, was invisible late in each of the Knicks’ two defeats.”

“Trying to make people better at the wrong times”

what about taking it all the way to the hoop or just take open 3s in crunch time? regardless of how big an ego is, everybody should doubt himself after some time for constantly jacking up contested long twos in crunch time. the less he takes of these the better

Interpretation: “I ain’t never caught a rabbit cause … well I wanted to give the other rabbits in the kennel a chance son!”

My reaction to Melo being hesitant to shoot in the crunch time:

“Maybe I’m second-guessing myself” so he is basically second guessing himself second guessing

    Exactly how I felt!

Should have second guessed himself when he rose up for that 3 pointer with 5 seconds left on the clock and his team only down 1 against Chicago.

Melo is slowly developing that “Dwight Howard Diarrhea of the Mouth” virus. He needs to just give generic responses and play ball.

Passive? Chucked a brick against the Bulls to lose (granted TC missed a free throw), and then went 2-7 in the clutch against the TWolves? If that’s passive, I don’t want to see aggressive. Part of it falls on Woodson. Their offense is truly stagnant late in games. It consists of isolating Melo when everyone in the building knows he’s going to take the shot. Move the ball, create for others and this team will have more success.

It’s just nerves. Dolan told Anthony the next time he chokes, Dolans going give the order to have mustard squirted into some little kid’s face.

just wait for trigger happy jr smith offering a second option for crunch time… “heroics”

  • J Du Bois

Yeah that was bad shot selection … however it’s not like the refs were going to call foul if he drove it in.

Also I have noticed that the Knicks need JR for the floor spacing … They Suck pretty much

The only person I would want with the ball at the end of games than melo would be Kobe
