Derrick Rose Out for the Season Following Knee Surgery

As expected, the Chicago Bulls announced this morning that Derrick Rose won’t play again this season after undergoing right knee surgery today. Damn … Here’s the press release: “Earlier this morning, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose underwent successful surgery to repair his previously torn medial meniscus in his right knee. The surgery was performed at Rush University Medical Center by Chicago Bulls head team physician Dr. Brian Cole and team physician Dr. Chuck Bush Joseph. Rose is out for the remainder of the season. He suffered his injury in the third quarter of Chicago’s loss at Portland on Friday night.”

Devastating. I thought he could play 3 weeks before the start of the playoffs. I guess Bulls doesn’t’ want to put pressure on him, but I think is still possible comeback for him this season. If you’re a gonna get injured you’re get injured, no matter if you spent the whole summer resting. We have seen this year. He could have played last season playoffs. He never will be the same, a great player, but never the same type of superstar. Bulls must trade Deng for a lottery pick if they can.

    Damn !

deng gets traded for sure now right? they will try to load up on draft picks if possible

  • Stepfan Raiford

Time to blow up the team. Dang.

  • Dfrance

D@mn this really just ruined my morning.

  • Slick Ric

    Yep….. #PlaySorryForJabari lol

Unbelievable. After all the promise of the preseason, hard to imagine we’re here now. Even blowing up the team isn’t a good option because the Bulls are unlikely to be worse than all of the teams that are trying to tank. Their best bet is probably to trade Deng and maybe Boozer, if possible, and then ride out the season as a mediocre team with middling first round draft picks.

Maybe Rose comes back strong next year . . . or maybe his days as a superstar are behind him.

nah man, they reattached his MCL, it’ll take a year for his body to finish the healing process. Cartilage does not heal like Bone/Tendons/Muscle

Derrick Rose you’ve lost my support.

  • LP @ThisisEther

    Yep….Plummett for Parker!

  • LP @ThisisEther

deng was done before any of this happened….Dont know how much they can get back for him …. teams probably won’t wanna give up good picks in this draft.

  • Castrovi

His superstar days are done but rose will still be an elite player.

  • LP @ThisisEther

I still feel he will be back to allstar form…. still young….not a death sentence at all…He’s not mcgrady or Penny….he can come back from this, the ACL was behind him already….

  • Sérgio

Man, obviously, T-Mac suffered with injuries. But they only really diminished his effectiveness when he was in his 30s. So, please, lets not include him in the Penny, Hill, Yao, Oden group.

Westbrook comeback is a hope. He comeback sooner than expected and looks great. They (Bulls) don’t want people talking again about Rose and the playoffs and get another deception.

    Grant Hill Jr.

  • Enigmatic

    Yep…Mishandle for Randle?

  • spit hot fiyah

he was close to being gone for sure, a team that feels like they need a player of his caliber in order to have a chance at the title this year might be willing to give up a first rounder if they feel like that will be in the mid 20′s in the draft

nah, Westbrook did not come back sooner than expected. And the surgery was different. The injury was also different. “a torn meniscus” is hardly enough of a description of each injury. THere is lateral meniscus tears, medial, and there is degrees to the tear. RW was so minor, if his surgery wasn’t botched, he would have been able to return by the Finals if somehow OKC made it that far.
Rose on the other hand opted to have his Meniscus reattached, rather than having it removed altogether (common, Chris Paul had his removed in 08, Wade in college, and so on and so forth). Rose’s recovery is about 5X as long as it would have been had he just had his meniscus removed, but the reattachment surgery gives a shot at full 100% recovery. Although nothing is promised.

    This made me LOL

  • pposse

as a fan all i want is for the bulls to hold a press conference within the week or two weeks top and just have rose field questions. People want to hear stuff from the horse’s mouth, not all this hear say. this sucks

  • Drosefan4life

If I am the heat traded wade for drose bet c town would do it and then wait for rose to recover

  • Wings23
