Dwyane Wade Sold a Sitcom Based on His Life

LeBron James isn’t the only Miami Heat superstar whose life story is being mined for sitcom laughs — Dwyane Wade has a deal with Fox for a TV show based on his family life. Per the Sun-Sentinel: “On Tuesday, it was announced Fox would begin production of a sitcom based on Wade’s life. The television show, called ‘Three The Hard Way,’ is still in the planning stages but will center around Wade and his sons Zaire and Zion. ‘I will be involved, I’ll be very involved,’ Wade said. ‘It’s just a matter of how you structure your contract. I will be involved to the point of making sure it has enough of what I would like to see from my story.’ Wade said the idea hatched around the same time he was writing his book, ‘A Father First,’ that hit stores last spring. It was then when he decided to tell his story on television. ‘The process came around the same time I was thinking about doing a book,’ Wade said. ‘It was like, `I would love to see this on TV.’ I didn’t want to make it a movie. I wanted to make it something like a sitcom. It started being a thought and it kind of took on legs of itself whenever I had opportunity to be out in LA.’ Wade said the sitcom will be comedy-based but also handle some of the ‘dark times’ in his life. ‘I always take off the Cosby Show kind of thing,’ Wade said. ‘They always told a lesson at the end of the day. They told a story at the end of the day and there was some comedy in the middle of it.'”
