Dwyane Wade Sold a Sitcom Based on His Life

LeBron James isn’t the only Miami Heat superstar whose life story is being mined for sitcom laughs — Dwyane Wade has a deal with Fox for a TV show based on his family life. Per the Sun-Sentinel: “On Tuesday, it was announced Fox would begin production of a sitcom based on Wade’s life. The television show, called ‘Three The Hard Way,’ is still in the planning stages but will center around Wade and his sons Zaire and Zion. ‘I will be involved, I’ll be very involved,’ Wade said. ‘It’s just a matter of how you structure your contract. I will be involved to the point of making sure it has enough of what I would like to see from my story.’ Wade said the idea hatched around the same time he was writing his book, ‘A Father First,’ that hit stores last spring. It was then when he decided to tell his story on television. ‘The process came around the same time I was thinking about doing a book,’ Wade said. ‘It was like, `I would love to see this on TV.’ I didn’t want to make it a movie. I wanted to make it something like a sitcom. It started being a thought and it kind of took on legs of itself whenever I had opportunity to be out in LA.’ Wade said the sitcom will be comedy-based but also handle some of the ‘dark times’ in his life. ‘I always take off the Cosby Show kind of thing,’ Wade said. ‘They always told a lesson at the end of the day. They told a story at the end of the day and there was some comedy in the middle of it.’”

He can kiss his NBA career goodbye now – for real this time.

  • pposse

    and why is that?

  • the rain

    You have three guesses.

  • LLC#12

Which NBA player has had the most interesting life? I was wondering this the other day, which NBA player would be the most interesting subject of a film. Jeremy Lin has a film now doesn’t he?

    my guess is Mikael Pietrus

  • pposse

cause its on fox? something to do with his ex wife?

  • Spru

I guess people can’t professionally multitask. Most people after doing one thing their entire life like to expand out and creatively challenge themselves. It keeps our mind fresh and usually has little effect on productivity

  • Lloyd

    Oh gosh.

  • Urk

Dwade is the opposite of what a sitcom antagonist is supposed to be. Who wants to watch some big strong millionaire being successful?

  • Dfrance

    I love Batman.

  • Max

    Why? In short?

  • Max

    Copeland has a nice story.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    in really really short.
    .
the guy was discovered playing basketball……without shoes on.

  • Grasshoper Funk

Manute Bol maybe? I’d love to see a “30for30″ about him.

  • Yknot

Lynn Whitfield from thin line between love and hate should play his ex.

  • Max

lmao, I have never heard about that lol

  • Yknot

Or go the opposite way and do Mugsy Bogues.

i would say Mutumbo & Bol. then you have to factor in Mutumbo was in on a smuggling gold scheme.

  • LLC#12

True, he had to claw his way up, played in your Belgium for a little while didn’t he? You ever check out Belgian basketball games?

  • shockexchange

The Shock Exchange would love to watch a sitcom about Black Ric Flair’s life – the mansion, $10,000 robes, his life with Baby Doll and taking other women on a ride of “space mountain.” WOOOOOO! WOOOOO!

  • guest

    Karl Malone

  • Max

Yeah, used to untill ‘my’ team stopped playing in the first division.
Heck Cope even got rejected by a 2nd division team in Spain lol.

  • Harvey

    Dennis Rodman.

  • bike

Sean Kemp. I would love to seem him do a similar sitcom about a guy who gets custody of all of his 12 kids by 8 different women.

  • carlos

    Sean???

  • LP @ThisisEther

    Sean Elliot or Shawn Kemp?

  • That Dude

DWade is such a fu*ken douche.

  • Saleem Rainman

How big headed does a person have to be to write a book about their lige, and then make a sitcom about their life with the belief that people actually care? only an athlete i guess…

  • Jerome

Fox is turrbull. I hope it’s called Heatles.

  • Enigmatic

Jimmy Butler maybe but plenty has already been written about him.

    entourage was pretty good

i mean Iverson had the brawl highschool thing. Rafer Alston.

  • The Seed

For some reason I cannot stand Wade now. I used to like him, he seems like he is such a douche bag. Dude wears 5,000 jackets, writes books about his great life now with money and how is wife is jacked up. I remember seeing cat in draft with wife hugged up, he was plotting then, LOL. Now he is becoming more of a name, than a player.

  • The RothChilds

That reminds me of when i went to Belize and there were kids playing everywhere with no shoes. people just don’t wear them down there. but these kids could all handle, and were quick and played together well. just when they popped a jumpshot it looked like a chest pass to the rim. I wanna go back and start a camp.

  • melvo

Yeah, he used to come off as a really humble and nice guy, but he’s changed a lot ever since the big 3 era started. On and off the court.

  • melvo

Kevin Love. His uncle was a Beach Boy. Must’ve been real tough growing up.

  • melvo

Great news! Dan Harmon is the showrunner!

  • spit hot fiyah

not to diss belgium (i live in sweden, who’s league is inferior to belgium’s) but spain div 2 is way better than belgiums highest division. We once had this dude from div 3 from spain come through for one summer and he killed everyone in practice (sweden’ highest level) they wanted to sign him but he wanted to get pain like an american,

  • COYNE

He’s already impressed us with his acting ability.

  • spit hot fiyah

there is a 30 for 30 on the iverson brawl thing
