The Nets are off to a miserable start. Will they rebound and make the postseason?

Will the Nets make the Playoffs?

Prokhorov just needs to get the Phoenix medical staff and they can even go for the Eastern finals.

    And a new coach…

    Things going for them:
    -Still very talented
-Their record could be kept artificially low from injuries
    -The East

    Things going against them:
    -Jason Kidd
    -No team chemistry
-Added pressure playing in New York
    -Constant injury risk

I’m gonna say they’ll sneak in as an 8th seed at some record below .500.

<— still doesn't like blaming this stuff on Jason Kidd this early. He was supposed to struggle at first, and that was assuming the team was healthy. Deron Williams has played in 9 games total, for 22.8 minutes a game. give Jason Kidd a little time lol

  • Caboose

Oh I’m not blaming it entirely on Kidd, I’m just saying that he’s not gonna help them. He’s a warm body in a suit, but he’s not sabotaging anything.

for now i agree. but i think once he gets a feel for what he can affect directly, he’s going to bring a new wrinkle too that team. i am just a little bit weary of how long it will take for Kidd to understand how to impart what he did instinctively into team concepts. might take a few years, which he obviously doesn’t have in Brooklyn.

I don’t doubt he can (and will be) a decent coach, I just disagree with not bringing him on as an assistant first. The nuances of coaching, especially at the NBA level are intense, and bringing in someone who has only really seen it from a player’s perspective is a losing strategy without giving him experience first.

that’s why they gave him 2 ex coaches as assistants. he was supposed to be more of a figurehead until he got a handle on what he was doing. but the injuries have increased scrutiny, and people within the organization are trying to find a scapegoat.

  • Caboose

Well, a figurehead usually makes an appropriate scapegoat…

    hahaha touchè

  • King David

im from Brooklyn, HELL NO !

  • jaceking

they still could… the east is always open (besides maybe the top 4).. esp down the stretch. but will they do anything once they reach the playoffs? hah.. prolly not.

On a team like the nets with future hofs, experience how much of good coach do u need

  • Caboose

    Apparently a lot.
