Anthony Davis Out 4-6 Weeks With Broken Hand

The New Orleans Pelicans announced that big man Anthony Davis will be out between 4-6 weeks, as he recovers from a fracture in his left hand. From the team website: “The second-year power forward sustained the injury to the fifth metacarpal of his left hand early in Sunday’s victory at New York. Based on that timetable and the Pelicans’ upcoming schedule, Davis would therefore miss at least the next 12 games, or as many as 20. Four weeks from today is New Year’s Eve, while the six-week timeframe ends Jan. 14. Although many NBA analysts projected imminent disaster for the Pelicans (9-8 overall, on three-game winning streak) without their rising 20-year-old star, the early signs have been encouraging. New Orleans played three-plus quarters without Davis on Sunday at Madison Square Garden and still prevailed 103-99, coming back from an early deficit vs. the Knicks. On Monday, in another one of the NBA’s historically difficult venues for a visitor, New Orleans posted an exhausting 131-128, triple-overtime victory at Chicago’s United Center.”

did you have to do any rehab? or was it completely immobile for 4 weeks?

I think this guy is going to be the best player in the game in < 5 years

OK. Currently counting the weeks until he returns. He’s been playing at an ALL STAR level and I hope he continues. Feel pretty bad because they just got Ryan Anderson back. But I’m glad the injury is not a season-ender.

Sometimes a broken hand can be a blessing in disguise depending on which hand is affected. For example, learning to wipe your ass with a different hand can develop dormant areas of the brain.

Well I got an operation and the first 2 weeks it was almost completely immobile. After those 2 weeks I could start picking up little things and everyday it went better.
Right now my hand is doing pretty good, I can do regular stuff and shoot it from a little bit outside the paint. Don’t have range for 3′s on my right hand yet tho.

I’ve learned to do EVERYTHING with my left hand.
Am I super smart right now?
