Dion Waiters Insists He Doesn’t Want a Trade Out of Cleveland

The season hasn’t started out the way Dion Waiters had envisioned it, and there have been numerous reports indicating that the disgruntled second-year guard wants the Cavs to trade him. Waiters continues to say that’s simply not the case. Per the Akron Beacon Journal: “Waiters refuted a Bleacher Report story that he’s asked the Cavaliers to trade him, the second such national report in less than a month. Both sides insist, however, it isn’t true. ‘At the end of the day, I know what I said and didn’t say, and that’s one of those things I absolutely never said,’ Waiters said. ‘They can keep talking. I never said it.’ Waiters has played better in recent weeks, scoring 30 points in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks two weeks ago and following it up by averaging 18.5 points during the Cavs’ two-game Florida trip last weekend. He has never spoken glowingly about his role as a bench player, but he maintains he’s happy in Cleveland. This is the second time Waiters had to address the issue. […] ‘I’m asleep and my phone is blowing up,’ he said. ‘The way my phone was going crazy, I thought I got traded already. It is what it is. They come up with these stories that aren’t true. Let them keep writing.'”
