Kobe Bryant Says ‘Only an Idiot’ Would Doubt His Return from Knee Injury

Despite going down so soon after fighting back from a torn Achilles, Kobe Bryant remains defiant. The 35-year old Black Mamba vows to return to the court with a vengeance, and dares anyone to doubt his ability to live up to that promise. Per Yahoo! Sports:

Before the natural anguish of learning that his left knee had suffered a fracture, a most improbable sense washed over Kobe Bryant: relief.

“Lucky it wasn’t a meniscus,” Bryant said on Thursday afternoon.

[...] The walls are closing, his path to restoration never so perilous, and yet here was Kobe Bryant on Thursday afternoon making clear his belief on those who’d dare doubt his resolve again.

“Only an idiot would,” Bryant said.

For those who believed Bryant had come back too soon from the Achilles tear, these several weeks promise to give the tendon more time to recuperate, more time to strengthen again.

“This could be his best chance to come back stronger,” his longtime trainer Tim Grover said on Thursday.

What Tim Grover says makes a lot of sense, Kobe was not ready, he was rusty, his tendon still weak and he had a few extra pounds. He’ll be back in much better shape.

Who has even expressed any doubt he will return from this injury? I think we all know he’s going to come back swingin

His motivation is unreal. He has won everything there is to win yet he just won’t give up, through the injuries and the haters, he just keeps going. Crazy.

    Get well Kobe!

Horry Jr you came back at least 6 weeks to early. Listen to the Shock Exchange for once. If the prognosis for your knee says come back in 6 weeks, then make it 12.

Well, call me an idiot then.

Kobe needs to shut it down for the season and fully allow himself to recover through rest and proper strength training. He rushed back for no reason whatsoever; there is no point in dangerously playing with a weak leg (with only 3 weeks of practices under your belt) to “lead” a team to the 12th seed.

    Should retired like Sir Ferguson.

He won everything there is, that’s true. Now he want to remain glorious before he retires, which i see is very hard. his knee is hurt and his team doesn’t look so good on the court.

    An idiot he says.
