Another Dookie player not making it in the NBA, not surprised at all.

  • J. Smith

Kyrie, Deng, Plumlees(s), Henderson, McRoberts, Danhtay Jones, Battier, Brand, Boozer, Dunleavy, Ryan Kelly, Redick.

They need a guy who can create his own offense, not Seth Curry. Scotty Hopson is my pick, esp when he is already proven overseas these two years and came back for 2013 summer league declaring he is ready for nba

    Singler

Then there are Jay Williams, Sean Dockery, Steve Wojciechowski, Greg Paulus, Casey Sanders, William Avery, Roshown McLeod, Cherokee Parks, and Trajan Langdon.

And then there is the human Beluga, who sits in a class of his own. Mr. Shelden Williams.

I watched a D-League game with Seth Curry and the SC Warriors the other night. Wasn’t impressed. He is like a Steph Curry light version.

  • BE.water

Ryan Kelly is wack, Dahtay Jones is meh, Plumlee’s are meh at the moment, Dunleavy is whatever.

Really, the only players I’ve thought to be worth a damn in the NBA from Duke are:

Kyrie, Redick(though he was really in that above catergory until CP3 was feeding him passes), Brand, Battier, Maggette, Deng.

Don’t include Jay WIlliams. He and Tj Ford would have carved out nice spots in the League without their injuries happening

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

correction: another duke player who didn’t pan out in the league. Demarcus Nelson.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

why doesn’t gardner play that much.

  • BE.water

He hasn’t learned how to slow down. He can get anywhere on the floor, and thats the problem. The defense kinda lets him get in the paint and try to go over the top of them every time like he did in high school, and it works to his disadvantage because these arent high school players. He has the talent to play in the D-League, and with a smarter game, is quick enough to do his thing in the league in a few years. Has to be smarter with the ball and make the smart play more often and not the flashy play.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

But why does seth get more playing time. That’s crazy. I’d take gardner every time over seth to run a team.

  • Ben Ireland

How are you guys missing Grant Hill? Probably better than all of them!
Never realised how much of a mixed bag Duke players turned out to be in the L though, think it’s cos Coach K maximises their potential or hides their weaknesses?

  • BE.water

GHill fell through cracks I Admit, He was def the best from Duke, but his inuries robbed him of a sure Hall Of Fame Career

  • JustMe

    Please don’t forget Christian Laettner

  • J. Smith

Henderson is Hoopin too….That Duke doesn’t do the NBA well is a Myth….

  • J. Smith

    Damn…I forgot Sing the Gawd

  • J. Smith

    Laettner plays 10 years…?!?!

  • BE.water

yes. Henderson is nice, my bad.

  • J. Smith

    Nelson don’t count for reason I won’t make public…

  • JustMe

Not the star he was at Duke

  • Max

JJ Redick has shown over the last 2 year he can ball. Not just because he plays with CP3 man..

  • TriggaMan

Um lost with this d league stuff. Say: can the Lakers sign anyone from any team in the d league or just there d league team?

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

myth most of the duke prospects are big time but duke sucks the athleticism aspects that swag out of their games

  • brothasdontsurf

Yeah, the D League is basically a showcase. You see what you like you can pick him up. NBA Teams’ affiliation to D-League teams is usually determined by location.

  • BE.water

it all boils down to decision making. Kiwi makes consistent bad decisions and is turnover prone.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Well it depends on the contract. If the guy is on an NBA deal then he can’t be picked up as he is in the same type of circumstance that a draft pick in Europe is in before they come over.

  • @RealDaveBarnick

Nolan Smith and Jon Scheyer are also Blue Devils who didn’t really pan out, but most of these guys aren’t projected to excel at the next level. Summarizing a player’s game as “wack”, “meh” and “whatever” is pretty deep, but doesn’t quite get it done for me. I’m not partial to a college team’s overall talent and I’m absolutely not a Duke fan, but if you’re going to huff and puff about player development from a single school being poor, come to the yard with something better than short-sighted remarks.

The real question is; can Seth Curry establish himself as a formidable rotational player for an NBA team in the next 2-3 years?

  • Marcus Middleton

only reason seth was in d league was because he needed to learn point didnt play it at duke mostly sg but now that he is getting assists he gets a call up he will only get better in my opinion looks really healthy. When he was at duke he had off and on injuries that was another reason he didn’t get drafted couldn’t work out for teams.
