Rajon Rondo’s High School Coach Says Carmelo Anthony Recruiting Him to the Knicks

Maybe there is something to the rumor that New York has been trying to trade for Rajon Rondo. According to the Boston Celtics point guard’s old high school coach, Steve Smith, Carmelo Anthony has been selling the idea of playing for the Knicks to Rondo. Per USA Today: “When did you know he’d be, not just a pro, but an NBA All-Star? SS: ‘At the time that he was here I’d had about five guards that had gone on to the NBA and I thought he was better than all of them. That’s saying a lot because they were great players too. I thought he had a chance be a great player, but I didn’t know he was gonna lead the Celtics to a title so soon. But he always had everything to be a special player.’ Are you confident that he’ll be just as good, if not better, coming off of the ACL tear? SS: ‘No, I think he should be fine. He took a long time off and he’s rehabbed the right way. Whether he stays in Boston or not who knows. I know, talking to Melo (Carmelo Anthony), he’s recruiting Rajon to come to New York. Melo thinks he’ll come too. You never know about that stuff though. I think either way, Rajon will be fine.’”

Well Kobe Bryants HS janitor said Kobe is recruiting Melo to LA, so someone is lying.

When I read that headline, it sounded like Carmelo was trying to get Rondo’s HS coach to come play for the Knicks. Which wouldn’t be all that strange.

Dry snitching? What part of the game is that?

Knicks should trade Melo to the Celtics for Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace, Marshon Brooks, and the Celtics 1st rounder

im afraid the celtics wouldnt have 17 championship banners if they agreed to trades like this lol

Carmelo ANTONY should be his name.
Guys who know Roman history should recognize Marc Antony
The Roman politician who made an uneasy alliance with Octavian
Before leaving Rome completely to ally with Egypt and Cleopatra
Then doing everything possible to get people to join his cause
And ultimately committing suicide because of the repeated losses

I think Melo is in about stage 3 of 4 in this little story…

    History repeats itself

    Knicks should hire Thunder management

Are you actually stupid? Why would you trade away such young talent for one guy?

Celtics say yes before the knicks hang up the phone on this one.

What Boston really needs is a better Center. Either Varajao, or especially Noah would be a nice fit. If the Knicks were serious and offered Tyson Chandler and a #1 for Wallace and Rondo. I would move Rajon. That would give them the big body they need at Center, get out from under Wallace’s contract, and net yet another pick. Crawford is playing great ball at the point, and is starting to develop a nice flow with the starters. As much as I like Rondo’s defense, and playmaking skills, I would not like to see Crawford’s role be significantly reduced, nor would I care to see him switch back to Shooting Guard. Danny will likely wait and see how well Rondo fits in with the new core of players, before he does anything, but after all of incidents and outbursts Rondo has had over the years, being out with an injury keeps people from complaining about his attitude. Owners will easily overlook or forget the headaches he would cause at times.

because Melo and Rondo playing next to eachotehr would be unbelievable! And it looks like Jeff Green has hit his ceiling, while their 1st rounder this year isn’t a sure thing by any means

because all of that young talent added up doesn’t equal Melo
