The frustrating Rudy Gay Era in Toronto has come to an end.

According to multiple reports, the Raptors and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a blockbuster deal, sending Gay to California.

Per Yahoo! Sports:

The Kings will send Greivis Vasquez, John Salmons, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes to the Raptors. In addition to Gay, the Raptors will send Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray to the Kings, sources said. The Raptors and Gay had become increasingly unhappy with each other, league sources said, and Gay’s contract was an obstacle to the franchise’s desire to begin the rebuilding process.

Gay is making $17.8 million this year, and holds a player option for $19.3 million for the 2014-15 season. The forward will almost assuredly exercise the option and take that salary next season. The Kings plan to use Gay at the stretch-four position.

At 6-12, the Toronto Raptors’ season is spiralling down the drain, and the team appears to be setting itself up for a high pick in the loaded 2014 NBA Draft (and surely dreaming of landing Raptors fan Andrew Wiggins.

GM Masai Ujiri might be voted in as the next mayor of Toronto, having managed to get rid of both Andrea Bargnani and Rudy Gay in his first year on the job.
