Caron Butler Unhappy With Bench Role in Milwaukee

33-year old veteran forward Caron Butler didn’t find happiness when he went back home to Wisconsin. Butler says he’s not thrilled with a backup role on the Milwaukee Bucks. Per the Journal Sentinel:

Butler said after practice Thursday he will continue to assess the situation as the season progresses. And he made it clear he wants to play in the NBA several more years following this season, when his current contract ($8 million this year) expires.

“The information I received before coming here is that ‘You’re going to play a lot,’” Butler said. “And I want to play. I want to be out there to help the situation. If we’re developing on the fly, and I know Giannis (Antetokounmpo) has to play and guys have to play, but OK, there are a lot of ways those guys can play and we can still be out there developing those guys as well.

“Coach (Larry Drew) understands that and I’ve talked to him. He’s been more than helpful, and (general manager) John Hammond and everyone. I know it’s a process and we’ll get through it. We’re not even halfway through the season. Hopefully something turns for the better for the team and myself.”

Butler started for the Los Angeles Clippers last season but platooned with Matt Barnes at small forward and only averaged 24.1 minutes. This season he has started 12 of 23 games with the Bucks and averaged 10.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 25.0 minutes.

As a kid, the Shock Exchange wanted to date Jayne Kennedy. He was really unhappy when it didn’t happen. Now he’s old enough for his “wants” not to hurt. That is all.

All the early 2000′s ball players disgruntled now, Gerald wallace, Caron, Andre Miller, Bogans etc. Seem like they having a hard time coming to grips that it’s about over for them.

Caron deserves a bigger role maybe as a sixth man for a contender. He’s still capable of giving you a 20 point night here or there so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone picks him up before the deadline

I was coming to say the same thing. Just recognize that you’re no longer in your prime and move on.
