The spurs time as a legit contender ended with ray Allen’s 3 last year. Yeah they can rack up wins against weaker teams but they are overmatched against the elite ones this season. U can’t stand pat forever eventually changes have to be made.

We’ll see come playoff time. Right now it’s too early to be assuming things. I remember when last year people predicted how the Spurs wouldn’t be able to keep up with GSW’s speed and athleticism or when they said that the Grizzlies’ bigs would be too much for them to handle. I trust Pop even if he screwed up Game 6 last year

he’s been pretty disappointing this year tbh.

  • i_ball

He actually plays less minutes and has the same stats so his efficiency has improved. The only things he has a slight drop off in are the 3pt shooting and free throw shooting. He’s averaging a career high in PER so far.

Kawhi plays within the system so his stats can’t really improve drastically if his role doesn’t change.

At some point your time is just up. Every top team in the west is using their style of play with superior players which is why they haven’t been able to beat elite teams this year. Their path to the finals was easy compared to what it’ll probably be this year. Besides the spurs have NEVER made back to back finalsfinals.

  • Mariano

How is the fact that they never made back-to-back finals relevant? It’s not like we’re 2 weeks away from the playoffs and the Spurs are without Kawhi, DGreen, and Tiago. It’s January. All the Spurs are really missing is a consistent back-up for Kawhi and Tony to wake up and they’ll be in the finals guaranteed.

  • JJ Jones

Guaranteed? They just lost to a westbrook-less thunder teamteam. The rockets also seem to be a bad matchup for them and they can’t be elite teams this year.

  • keyon dooling

they need(ed) to let Kawhi loose a bit. Usage is so low and he proved last year that he can put the ball in the hole when given the chance. Inadvertently hurting his chances at a bigger extension this summer too as a result of ‘Whi playing ‘within the system’ so much
