LA Clippers to Reportedly Sign Hedo Turkoglu

Doc Rivers, by all indications, likes what he’s seen from Hedo Turkoglu in workouts so far. Word is that the LA Clippers will ink the veteran forward for the remainder of the season. Per NTV SPOR and the LA Times:

Asked before practice (Tuesday) if he could see the Clippers signing Turkoglu to a contract, Rivers said, “We could, yeah. We’re looking at him strong. I can say that much.”

The Clippers have a full 15-man roster and would have to waive a player before they could sign Turkoglu. But a Turkoglu deal could be done as soon as Wednesday or Thursday, the day the Clippers leave for a seven-game, 12-day trip.

Turkoglu, 34, worked out for Rivers and the Clippers Thursday at the team’s practice facility in Playa Vista. “He made shots from everywhere,” Rivers said Friday. “He looked good. It was a good workout.” The 6-foot-10 Turkoglu has averaged 11.9 points and 3.1 assists over 12-plus NBA seasons. The Orlando Magic had told Turkoglu to stay away from the team this season, and finally waived him Jan. 3.

Who would they let go? Willie Green?

  • Nathaniel Shields

Maalik Wayns. They dropped him last week to make room for Darius Morris, only to sign him back on a 10-day contract once they dropped Cap’n Jack, as well.

Why? they are either gonna not play him and then waive him, ala Stephen Jackson, or they’re gonna keep him on their bench to rot, ala Antawn Jamison

    Poor kid. Keeps getting dropped.

I actually think they’re gonna drop Morris. They dropped Wayns before his contract became guaranteed for the rest of the season. That’s why they brought him back on a 10 day contract. Both Morris and Wayns wont be on the team come playoffs

Stephen Jackson was very rusty and wasn’t in game-shape. It was clear there would be no PT for him once Barnes & Redick came back so they brought in Morris to provide some PG depth. Antawn Jamison has been horrible this year. I was expecting him to come back strong this year. He’s gonna diaspppear once Odom signs

Did you not read what it says? It clearly says, “Pending a physical, he will sign a contract with Clippers until the end of this season.” He’s not getting waived, Clipps need a ballhandling big that’s a playmaker with CP3 out.

He’s a good athlete, decent defender, but fairly poor point guard. He is best served as a spark plug, like Shannon Brown.

Once Odom signs? A coach like Doc not bringing in this type of Lamar Odom. Jamison might disappear but it ain’t gone be for Lamar.

  • Nathan Shane Long

So far the Clippers have signed Antawn Jamison Stephen Jackson and now Hedo Turkoglu how many more small forward five years past their primes can they sign

  • Anthony

“Turko-Doo-doo”, belovingly titled by the only Rasheed Wallace, has to be one of the biggest thieves of NBA $ there’s ever been.

  • Nathan Shane Long

    Turkoglu damn sure robbed Toronto

  • Chonin

Mullens is a bust. Tey should go for A Miller too.
That’s would make them championship material

  • Ugh

I think the Rivers-Pierce relationship has a potential answer to that. :D

  • LobCity

A coach like Doc has already brought this type of Lamar in for meetings this season. I’m not a big fan of LO, but everybody on the team loves him and Del Negro told Doc that Odom was a great teammate and never a distraction. If Odom is ready to play, Doc will sign him.
