LeBron James Not Ready to Commit for the 2016 Olympics

Miami Heat superstar LeBron James headlined the 28-player pool from which USA Basketball will form a team to represent them for the next three summers, and play in the 2016 Rio Olympics. LBJ wants to take part, but says it’s far too early to tell if he will be able to. Per Fox Sports:

“I don’t know where I stand for 2016,” James said before Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers. “Obviously, if I’m healthy in 2016 that summer, if I can get to leading our country by playing, then that would be great to be a part of that.

“But I can’t commit to it right now.”

The pool — split between 14 Team USA vets and 14 newcomers — was chosen by USAB chairman Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski. They also will select the 12-man rosters for both the World Cup, which starts in late August, and the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

Well he’ll be 31 and past his prime by then not to mention his ambition to win non stop championships so yeah his Olympic career will probably be over.

“past his prime” ok ass clown

  • spit hot fiyah

never ever sleep on the fact that the olympics are in brazil

A person’s “prime” is relative and individual. He may not have a 40in vert but what if he finally masters a post game, or gets a VERY reliable J, or hey maybe he’ll get divorced become bitter at the world and develop that uber KILLER instinct. Don’t let age be a determining factor on a player’s “prime”

I meant athletic wise. The older you get the harder it is to recover. He may want to use the off season to recover I mean just this season he’s had more nagging injuries than his younger years.

Wtf is with this sensitive ass response. Name one athletic that was at their peak athletically and stamina wise. I didn’t say he would suck just that he’ll be considered old by then. I guess dwyane wade is still in his prime too right? Jesus

YOU DON’T HAVE AN OPTION LEBRONATHAN!

  • t bear

Which has the best looking women, coupled with one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world. Sucky combination.

Well, it would be pretty hard to top what he did in the last Olympics. And two years from now is a lifetime for a ball player.

  • JJ Jones

    That sucks.
