Karl Malone To Blake Griffin: ‘Next Time One Guy Cheap Shots You, Just Lose Your Mind’

As one of the League’s old school tough guys, Karl Malone offered advice for Blake Griffin for the next time the Clippers forward takes a beating on the court. The Mailman said he’d tell Griffin to “just lose your mind,” adding, “I would pay your fine.” Via LBS:

The Mailman was a color commentator for ESPN’s telecast of the Utah Jazz-Golden State Warriors game on Friday night and talked about how much he likes Griffin. He then explained what advice he would offer the Clippers forward.

“I would love to spend some time with Blake Griffin,” Malone said. “I love that kid. First thing I’d do [is say], ‘Blake, the next time one guy cheap shots you, just lose your mind. I would pay your fine. Lose your mind, run roughshod … if a coach grab you, throw him too and say ‘I’m sorry coach.’

“I love the way this kid plays. I don’t like the cheap shots that people take at him,” Malone said.

    Man, this is bad advice.

  • Jeremy de Sa

They forgot to mention the disclaimer. *Dont mess with andrew Bogut

  • spit hot fiyah

“next time a guy cheap shots you, get suspended and hurt your team”

do your thing blake, let the haters hate

  • cbranson05

hey, a 5 or even 10 game suspension will be worth a reputation for the rest of your career

  • pposse

Blakes been playin like a beast this year. His low post game is nothing to frown at anymore imo. Everytime i seen him play he has been getting the job done without cp3 too.

  • RKJ92

That’s because you grew up in a era of p*ssy basketball players, the league NEEDS more of this..

  • JJ

I’m glad an old school guy that isn’t bashing a young guy. Happy to hear this. I always respected Malone even though I hated his game. But he’s exactly what Blake needs: toughness. Nobody wanted to mess with Malone

  • dannyb

I gave my cousin Mikey the same advice the first time he went to prison

  • Ugh

    Fixed, from above:

“hey, a 5 or even 10 game suspension will be worth a reputation for the rest of your team”

  • BabyFace Cain♋

No respect for Karl Malone’s deadbeat dad impregnating 13 year olds while in college bum ass

  • Serious??

Same advice to others when Blake Griffin “cheap shots” them. What kind of advice is that?

  • The Seed

Malone, is a different breed and cat. Griffin is softer than Charmin tissue, Griffin should beg Malone to teach him some moves, how to shoot a medium range jumpshot and some up fake moves down low. Malone was a beast. I still feel he is the greatest power forward every, he just had to face MJ twice in the NBA Finals. Actually Jazz choked one away.

  • Saleem Rainman

u havent been watching much of blake this year, have u? lol

  • Robert L. I.

Coming from one of the dirtiest players that played the game, that’s truly rich.
I would love to see Griffin melt down though.
Come on Blake “Just Do It”!

  • Matthew Militar

    Also, Z-Bo.

  • Yakko Warner

why do laker fans comment on everything clippers doeeeeee?

  • MikeC.

What the hell kind of word is “doeeeeee”?

  • Yakko Warner

Why that is an excellent question my good man! You see, doeee has the phonetic similarities of the word though which both can be used in this context. I used doeeeee to appeal to the ruffians that can relate to such slang in order to connect with them. Hopefully, this little pause in my rouge could provide the clarity you were desperately seeking, my neanderthal-esque friend!

malone ? grwatest pf¿ sorry timmy takes that

  • uqk

malone is the one choking…..freethrow & got stolen by mj

  • ROSHIP17

People are dumbasses if they think Blake is soft. That guy is nails. He’s got a good balanced mentality – intelligent enough to not allow someone to take him out of his game and jepordise his team; he’s playing strong and getting better. Guys keep pushing him wanting him to break.

  • The Seed

He is still soft, he has benefited from Chris Paul not ball hogging the ball, more touches for him. His post moves are still srubbish. But his game is still the same, he will shrink up in the playoffs. Then everyone will kill him on slam the next day. BOOK IT!!

  • Saleem Rainman

HE HAS BEEN PLAYING HIS BEST BASKETBALL WITH CHRIS PAUL OUT WITH AN INJURY.

his mid range game has been MUCH improved, his post game is also improved.

He’s learning to become a leader with CP3 out.

    And the numbers dont lie.

    BOOK THAT.

  • robb

Yeah Karl teach him how to use those elbows and how to win a championship

  • JD

Blake does kinda remind me of Malone

Sometimes it BG who throws the cheap shots, then he gets nailed for it:

  • Martin Miller

Karl is right. Doc, bring Malone in town for a teach-in for Blake.

  • Chris

Seriously? You pick a rough play from Blake’s rookie year? And those weren’t cheap shots, they were fouls that didn’t get called, just like Andre’s. You must not watch basketball if you don’t see people pushing each other under the basket. Andre’s a lot smaller than a big, so he was easily tossed. Blake wasn’t targeting him, he was just being physical with the man in front of him.

  • Raymond Moser

Fathers give this advice to their sons whenever they are bullied in grade school. Blake has been way more physical in the paint this year. He seems comfortable bumping & shoving down low. A professional mentoring relationship with the MAILMAN could help him reach super star status.

  • Balla_foreva

Uh hey you, yeah you, “The seed”. it’s way to obvious right now that you haven’t been paying attention to how Blake can do all those things you just listed. You want to see a real beast, pay attention to his game this year and all the things people are saying about how his game has already extremely improved in just over one year. The one person who has helped him improve the most is HIMSELF. his own Coach said that he works the hardest and longest, he’s always working on his game way before their practice starts and way after it ends. And yeah, he does that ALONE. i’d do my research before talking smack about the way someone’s game was 2 years ago if I were you. And even THEN he was one of the top players in the league. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  • Balla_foreva

Oh and I’m sorry but, I believed you just got told by a 16 year old CHICK. Maybe this will teach you a lesson that next time you’ll learn to shut your mouth about someone who deserves more respect and you don’t know anything about.

  • 3peat

Man your and idiot Blake had been playing his best ball without cp3 and has been breasting in the post and his mid range is almost automatic

  • Ahni Anderson

What’s up with the racist cliche, “The Mailman was a color commentator for ESPN’s,”?
