Post Up: Rondo Leads Celts

Celtics 96 (16-33), Magic 89 (13-36)

Led by Brandon Bass (19 points, 9 rebounds) early on and Rajon Rondo (19 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) down the stretch, the Celtics snapped a four-game losing streak and won their first game since Rondo’s return. Bass looked very good early on, scoring 9 points and grabbing 3 rebounds in the first 10 minutes of play. Jared Sullinger (21 points, 12 rebounds) also put up a double-double, taking advantage of Rondo’s elite passes. Jeff Green (8 points, 5 assists, 2-13 from the field) had one of his worst shooting performances of the season, missing 11 of his first 12 shots. All five Magic starters scored in double-figures and were led by Arron Afflalo (18 points, 4 assists) and Nikola Vucevic (14 points, 11 rebounds). Neither team’s bench provided much production. Rondo has the ability to take over games by means of his passing and he did just that on Super Bowl Sunday. Rondo had 6 assists in the final quarter, including 3 assists on his team’s final three baskets. He accounted for 17 of Boston’s 25 points in the 4th quarter.
