Lawrence Frank Will Keep His Job

Lil’ Frank will continue to be gainfully employed by the team, despite some of his players’ feelings towards him: “While he admitted there were a number of ways the team could improve, Thorn ultimately decided that changing the coach wasn’t one of them. The decision coalesced as the week progressed, with Thorn informing Frank of the confirmation Wednesday morning. ‘In my mind, he’s a good coach,’ Thorn said. ‘And if you get rid of a good coach, then you’ve got to get a good coach. He’s done a good job here. I think this past year we weren’t expected to do very well and we ended up doing better than most people expected us to, and our younger players got better, for the most part. So my feeling is that we’re on the right road.’ In 5 ½ years as coach of the Nets, Frank has led the team to a 225-225 record, including an 18-20 mark in four playoff appearances. However, New Jersey has finished the last two seasons with identical 34-48 records, out of the postseason each time.”

Gerard is right. The Nets know they probably won’t make the playoffs regardless of a coaching change and they weren’t able to move Vince’s deal so they don’t want to pay two coaches. This kinda sucks because I was hoping for a big improvement from the Nets next season, but I don’t see it with LFrank running the show.

no, they didn’t fire him because they either still believe in him, or, like I said before: if they fire him they still have to pay him 4.5 million, and pay another coach too. I don’t see why this is so difficult to understand for people.
