Iguodala Wants Change in Philly

Andre Iguodala, stinging from yet another Playoff elimination, doesn’t want to see the same faces in Philadelphia next season: “We could have been a 50-win team,’ Iguodala said last night after the Sixers lost Game 6, 114-89, and their Eastern Conference quarterfinal to the Magic, their second six-game, first-round playoff loss in as many seasons. His solution? ‘Moves. It’s going to be a busy summer,’ Iguodala said. ‘I’m going to sit down with Ed and discuss what I think will get us over the [hump].’ As for coach Tony DiLeo, the team’s assistant GM who replaced Maurice Cheeks in December and led the club to the playoffs, well, Iguodala didn’t exactly endorse his soft-spoken boss. ‘We’ll see about that,’ he said, when asked whether DiLeo should return. ‘We’ll talk. We’ll try to get the best-case scenario.’”

After paying AI and Brand this summer I dont expect much change in Philly for next year unless they can replace DiLeo with Obama as their new coach.

Since when did Iggy have so much pull?

    Bring back AI!!

I really believe Brand is gone this summer. Harsh because he has hardly played for us, but for some reason I just think he’s gone. I don’t see Miller coming back or DiLeo as coach – even as an assistant. Iggy really stepped up for me in these playoff’s, plus Thad was doing his thing. Those are the only 2 I don’t see going.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Avery Johnson come over to coach, I’m not sold on Eddie Jordan.

What I would LOVE to see is Sheed signing for the mid-level for one year and then retiring in philly. Seriously.

Never, TAD. He just has an inflated sense of self worth. Chuck touched on this last night, the 76ers biggest problem is that they have Iggy and Elton signed to monster deals, those thwo guys aren’t gonna win you any playoff series’, they’re just not. While Thad Young and Marreese Speights, who play the exact some posistions, will be relegated to secondary/teriary roles.
Man, I REALLY don’t like Iguodala.

@sixersforlife: Who is gonna take Brand’s contract off the Sixers hands? “NOBODY” is the answer. I agree that the best thing the 76ers could do is figure out a way to trade either Iggy or Brand but their straight laughable contracts make them unmovable.

  • sixersforlife_85

ciolkstar we nearly won a playoff series without Brand. Also Thad is a small forward and was only playing power forward due to the Brand injury. Speights is a true power forward but he’s not ready yet, his defense just lets us down (yes more than thad’s). Give Speights a couple years and he’ll be beasting, a poor mans al jeffreson in my opinion.

  • sixersforlife_85

ciolkstar – I agree nobody is stupid enough to take Brands contract, especially after two seasons of injuries. But I just have a feeling he will be gone. Don’t know how, don’t know who for, but I just don’t seem him here.

Dumars may be desperate enough as well as stupid.

philly screwed themselves over by getting brand…especially when summer 2010 is just around the corner

I’d love to see Thibedeuou(sp?) as Philly’s next head coach. His strength is defense, Philly’s problem is defense. Get rid of Sam, Willie, Iguodala(if possible). Miller’s gone. Only players worth keeping are Thad, Lou(low salary), Speights, Jason Smith, Reggie, and Brand(jury is still out on him in my opinion, I think he’ll have a monster year next year). I wouldn’t mind throwing some money to Ramon Sessions, and getting a 2 in here that can actually shoot. I’ve never been so disgraced at a team as I am with this Sixer team. DiLeo is a fool that can’t coach worth ish.

I think he’s talking about Dalembert. And probably Willie Green.

I think Iggy ought to improve his ball handling and shooting ability. I also believe that teams have what we call a ‘front office’ to make personnel decisions. Serious, Iggy is NOT that dude. He’s not even an all-star. Hell, he might be the one getting traded if a good deal comes along!

  • Pardeep

You aint Kobe Iggy. and as for Philly? the Answer is Allen Iverson again.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

I know Thad is a three, he’s my favorite Sixer by far and I think he’s better than Iguodala, by the end of next season it’ll be undeniable. But the 76ers cannot play Iggy at the 2. A “shooting guard” who can’t shoot just doesn’t work, especially without a three point shooting PG. And I agree that Speights isn’t all the way there, but by halfway through Brand’s new deal he’ll be a better player than EB.

And AI is not the answer. They’d be better off giving more minutes to Lou Williams.

Again, Z. His deal makes him impossible to move.
I mean, 80 mill!? Are you kidding me?

All will be good in the city of brotherly love if the Philadelphia 76ers sign the legend Allen Iverson. He IS ‘The Answer’ to their problems.

  • Edmond

I really think bringing Iverson back isnt a bad idea. He fits them well, get rid of miller and you got yourself a run n gun team!
